John Podhoretz and Abe Greenwald discuss The Victory of the Man Who Came Down the Escalator, and what it signals about the state of conservatism — which is to say, did the “he’s not a conservative” attack against him launched by Ted Cruz and others fail so completely because conservatism no longer has any coherent meaning to Republican voters? We say probably yes. We also suggest hugging your children and finding good shows to watch on Amazon Prime.

Hey, if Rome is burning, better get your bread and circuses in early.

Sorry! Correct episode is now here on the site. I also just tested iTunes and the correct episode is there. However, if you had already downloaded the mp3 of the incorrect episode masquerading as #14, then please delete that episode from iTunes and then click play on it again to download the correct file.

Most Democrats do not believe that they are Marxists either but are taken wherever their leadership wants because they accept some vague notion of its doctrine, and most Republicans have not been ideological conservatives but share it’s notions.  Conservative has always been a more sophisticated set of understandings of man, history, human nature and the notions of ordered liberty.

This is the longest session of monday-morning quarterbacking I have ever heard; the cry of the ultimate establishment republican. I’m surprised you guys didn’t blame republican failures on the Tea Party.

Rubio’s demise is blamed on his failure to take on Trump early enough. The obvious is ignored because it doesn’t want to be admitted: His primary contribution as Senator was the horrible Gang of Eight immigration bill and he never repudiated it during the campaign. He was doomed from the start.

And the jury is still out on Reagan’s tax cuts, which JPod says were highly successful. They were, in the short term, as all deficit spending is. That debt is still outstanding, however, (plus a whole lot more) so the story isn’t complete. Only when that debt is finally paid off will we be in a position to decide if it was actually worth it.
