Today’s podcast discusses Trump’s trip to the site of the train derailment in Ohio—which came at the same time it began to dawn on those hopeful he would be taken down by a Georgia prosecutor that the grand-jury foreperson in that case might have been destroying the possibility of a successful proceeding against him. Also, will a Supreme Court decision ending affirmative action have the same, or the opposite, effect on the public discourse as the overturning of Roe v. Wade? Give a listen.

    Are you folks kidding me??

At 53:08, Matthew mentioned the new Federal policy on Equity, and talked about it for maybe — maybe! — 12 seconds.

John talked about it for maybe one minute.

    And that’s it.

One of the most consequential Federal decisions in decades — one that as much as says, “Forget color-blindness, gang!  We are now going to start treating people differently on the basis of Race!” — and to John (who runs the podcast) it rates about a minute-and-a-half of discussion at the very end of the show.

And what does the rest of the episode consist of?  Wonkery.  Naturally.

Hard to believe someone as brilliant as JPod doesn’t feel the seismic shift taking place in the culture with regard to Race, particularly among young people … and the primacy of Race in the general conversation (it is now practically “All Race, All the Time”) … and what this portends for, frankly, everything.  And just how terrifying it all is.

This needs to be drilled down on, analyzed, torn apart, and discussed.  Early and often.

    But instead we get Wonkery.

They are in a bubble – their organizations don’t deal with it with ESG and DEI.  Do you think Commentary has a DEI clown running HR?

How many Commentary staffers are going to be fighting in Ukraine, do you suppose?  My guess:  None.  But they’ve talked about Ukraine on the show, haven’t they?  A lot.

How many of their staff members are currently doing time?  They’ve talked about incarceration policy.

How many are currently seeking abortions?  They’ve talked about the overturning of Roe V. Wade, right?

So direct personal relevance is hardly the issue here.  Besides, this Equity decision affects a lot more than just hiring.  It’s going to be permeating damn near EVERYTHING.

    You have excellent points here.

Lefty’s make this point all the time, attempting to exclude men from the abortion debate.

The re-establishment of Jim Crow should be widely debated, ridiculed and opposed at every turn… Heck every white guy should apply for every federal position possible – and when they don’t get hired – sue. Let a thousand lawsuits bloom.

I think you misunderstood me. I was simply responding to Glen’s remark that the reason the gang at Commentary wasn’t addressing the new Federal mandate on Equity was that it had little application to THEM.  I disagreed with this.  I replied that they (the gang at  Commentary) talked about MANY things that have little application to them — Ukraine; incarceration; abortion; etc — and that the new Federal mandate on Equity should be a part of that list — that is, one of Commentary’s talking points — because the consequences of its implementation are going to be grave.
