The first week of public hearings on impeachment concludes with the sense that maybe Democrats are just trying to make the case that Donald Trump is a bad and mean guy instead of making the case that he should actually be removed from office. And Mayor Pete surges… or is the story that Elizabeth Warren is falling? Give a listen.

What exactly is Buttigieg supposed to be a moderate on? He seems pretty extreme on just about everything to me.
I totally agree with John on Iraq. I don’t know why that’s so controversial to say. Also, @juliablaschke, I don’t think they are saying Mayor Pete is moderate. He simply speaks well, has attacked the furthest left positions of others, and thereby looks more reasonable than the other leaders in the field to moderate Democrats. I mean, Dallas seems cool in the summer if you’re comparing its temps to Death Valley.
Agreed. Buttigieg’s policies are far left, but his rhetoric is conciliatory. In this way he’s the opposite of Trump, who is labeled as “far right” because of his rhetoric but whose actual policy positions are nothing like, say, Ted Cruz’s.
(By the way, is anybody else tempted to actually buy a Harry’s Razor gift set for Buttigieg, just to see what would happen?)
@JuliaBlaschke , I believe the moderation our hosts refer to is in his tone. Mayor Buttigieg judges his fellow Americans’ souls and proposes very left leaning policy in a sweet voice.
Yes I get that. But I don’t know how you can stand up and say women should be able to kill their babies right up to and through the 9th month in a moderate tone. The man is a monster.
He doesn’t believe they are babies. That doesn’t make him a monster. It just means he disagrees.
What makes one more of a monster? Delusion to the point of accepting murder as benign? Or knowingly committing the act?
Actions always trump intent. So frankly it doesn’t matter what he believes he is doing.
It just makes him a stupid, venal monster. How can you look at a third trimester fetus and not know it is a baby. Hitler dehumanized Jews so he could kill them. This is no different.
