Those who want to defund the police or even abolish them are planning to do something they don’t want the police to interfere with.
One is to unleash criminals on the populace to terrorize us, as they do in Venezuela. The collectivos are like Antifa in that they operate with impunity and with the blessing of the leadership. The difference is that our populace is armed whereas Venezuelans had recently been disarmed. Well, unless you live in NYC.
The other things they want to do I can’t even imagine. It’s good to hear that Commentary takes this moment seriously, unlike the Dispatch and National Review, who think it’s 1968 and all we have to do is wait for the normies to snap things back. What we didn’t have in 1968 is the complete capture of the youth and with it the co-opting of corporate America.
Expect the American Inquisition. We may make it through this but not unscathed.

“Whatever it takes.”
In terms of there being an either/or for the Democrats’ far left side under a President Biden — there’s still going to be a huge fight between the left side of the party and the more centrists to get their person chosen as running mate, since more than any other year since 1944, there’s a perception that the VP might end up as the president before 2024.
If the left were to get 2020’s equivalent of Henry Wallace installed as vice-president, it’s entirely possible that all of the Teflon the media’s placed around Biden when it comes to some of his past statements on race, his support of tougher crime laws, or the Tara Reade kerfuffle suddenly vanish, and you see a serious effort by the woke types to cancel culture Biden to get the VP installed in his place (which would make for a possible remarkable irony, in that Joe Biden might end up having to count on Republicans being so opposed to Joe’s radical VP they end up being his backstop against removal from office).
