For years Democrats have had their emphasis on upper middle class lifestyle issues, like environmentalism and libertinism, and less emphasis on the lower middle class issues. It’s part of why Donald Trump did well with working class voters. Democrats see unions as a positive, unlike John Podhoritz. It seems like they are trying to reconnect with their old base. However, the lifestyle issues still trump working class issues, so pipelines are to be banned.
The Washington Post, owned by Jeff Bezos, has become much more left wing than it was under the Graham family, and has been very anti-Trump and pro-Biden. Other large high tech companies are run by left wingers, like Facebook, Google, and Apple. But the Democrats are going after those companies. Democrats have competing clients and they sometimes have to pick and choose who to oppress in any given issue.
