On the first of this week’s COMMENTARY podcasts, Noah Rothman and Abe Greenwald join John Podhoretz to sort through–and they do it systematically, which is a first–what is going on with the Russia investigation and how it divides into three categories. There’s the question of the probe itself, there’s the question of collusion, and there’s the question of obstruction of justice. It’s really good. Really. Give a listen.

Mueller was appointed special prosecutor because Trump fired Comey.  Trump turned a nothing burger into a something burger.

I don’t think there was any Trump campaign collusion.  But Trump has extensive and complicated New York City real estate finances; there is almost certainly irregularities in those finances.

Trump needs to show loyalty to people who are not his relatives.  Sessions was an early major supporter who gave up a safe Senate seat to be AG.

For many years, Trump was a reality show celebrity.  In that position, he was supposed to create public conflict.  He won the presidency with this attitude and I think he does not see the need to change his behavior.
