Stranger things have happened, brother! I generally do not want to see Rockers go anywhere near politics, even Kid Rock, but knowing he would be in Al Franken’s face every day? Yeah, I’d pay money to see that.
John is correct about the theme of the Tea Party being spending.
He misses that its genesis was not in Obamacare or even the Stimulus.
It goes all the way back to Medicare Part D, TARP, and all the spending in the W. admin.

A hedgefund guy I follow confronted him publicly about it. Reportedly it was pretty embarrassing. War is expensive.

John said that the trigger was Obamacare, which was true. But you are correct that the proto-tea party already existed and was opposed to Bush’s lack of fiscal restraint. We had hoped that Republican majorities in both houses of Congress and a Republican in the White House would give us some big fiscal policy victory (e.g. balanced budget or entitlement reform). We got nothing. We did not even get protection against Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The tea party was organized and angry and even vocal when TARP came around. But the name and the eruption as a popular movement was triggered by Obamacare.
