On our new podcast, Commentary Editor John Podhoretz and his colleagues Noah Rothman and Abe Greenwald express their deep sympathy for poor President Obama—he got his nice trip to Cuba all stepped on by another terrorist attack getting in the way of the “pivoting” he wants to do in foreign policy. The horror in Brussels raises yet again the specter of a non-assimmilating Muslim population in Europe and complicates questions in the American presidential race. Meanwhile, Ted Cruz seems unable to get out of Donald Trump’s shadow no matter how hard he tries, with parlous end results for him and for the Republican Party. This episode does not end with a joke. Next week’s will.

I feel like this podcast is hitting its stride.

This podcast was better than the last one. But we need better analysis.

John goes on about Arizona but fails to mention the early voting in the Primary that really screwed the entire night up. That all of Rubios votes were disenfranchised because of it, and that the states lack of ranked balloting really messed things up.  Almost every single district where Trump barely beat a surging Cruz which is a real story.

Also I continue to hear about how Hillary will beat Trump based on head to head polls that mean nothing. Trump candidacy breaks all the rules.  Until he wins the nomination all those polls are meaningless.  Trump has significant backing in the public sphere and will likely make inroads into Black/Hispanic communities as well as other areas which is reflected in his turnout of democratic votes in the Primary.

Stop acting like you can predict this. You have been wrong in the entire leadup and now you continue to pontificate based on faulty analysis.

I’m enjoying this podcast, although I wish events did not require it to be quite so Trump-tastic.

    Two suggestions:
    1. Please mention Ricochet at the beginning and the end (“Welcome to the Commentary Magazine podcast, hosted by Ricochet.com” or whatever).

    2. John, please let your guests/co-hosts contribute a bit more. I wouldn’t mind even an 80-20 Podhoretz-guest split, but 98-2 is a little lopsided.
