We (mostly Noah) describe our slow descent into madness as the public guidance and state-level lockdown policies grow stricter even as the long-term projections about the pandemic’s trajectory begin to look a little better. Also, the scandals involving the resignation of the acting Secretary of the Navy and Donald Trump’s vendetta against his inspectors general.

I am being driven insane like Noah.  I don’t understand why people don’t freak out about the demonstrated powers of the state here.  Did they not learn anything at all from history?

I am not in NY, but our world is very limited as well.  We can’t even drive through parks.  I can’t sleep anymore either.  Everything is disrupted, and I find myself thinking the trolly was forced to jump the track and crash into the crowd….

If I’m being surveilled by the government, I won’t take my cell phone with me when I walk out the door.  Most of my life, I’ve not had a smartphone.

There is a county park near me that is just walking trails.  This park is on a very busy road with lots of cars driving up and down.  There are no sports fields or other congregating locations in the park. The county has put up fences on the entrances to the parking lots.  Now people park on the shoulders of the road and walk along the road into the park. It does not look like there are any fewer people at the park.  And walking along the road is slightly more dangerous than using the parking lot.

Noah, seriously, you think you’re the only one?

My latest rant to whomever will listen has to do with the mayor of Los Angeles (Garcetti) who has (wait for it) encouraged “snitching” (his word). Right now snitchers can fill out a form online to report non-essential businesses who aren’t complying with the order to close. I’m waiting for the next level (reporting people who are walking without a face mask?).

So no, some of us out here are not among the 80% who apparently are OK with ceding our rights to Daddy Government as long as he keeps us safe.
