We begin with an effort to sort through the conflicting data and partisan clamor that is guiding policymakers toward potentially ill-considered but extremely important decisions about their respective lockdowns. We end with an impassioned attack on the forces of revisionism, which have gone to war to destroy the idea of American goodness.

Even if young people are getting the virus, and not taking up ICU beds, they can still pass it on to older people who may have a much harder time with it. Also, when people are admitted to hospital with the virus, even if they are not in the ICU, they still need to be separated from other patients. So hospital beds and wards are taken up by Covid that way. I would not want to be a politician right now, trying to balance all the different needs.
