I simply do not understand how Trump thinks that showing Kim how he could join the free world and North Korea could be wonderful, is going to work. Kim knows that if he takes his foot off the neck of his people, or shows any sign of giving up on nukes, he will end up getting pulled from a spider hole and torn to pieces by his own people! Kim doesn’t want McDonalds hamburgers and prosperity for Korea. He wants to keep what he has and to turn all the lights out in South Korea!

But I guess it buys us a few months without testing and firing missiles.

I think Trump should try to be as positive as possible.  I think if the stays away from mudslinging and tries really hard to be a nice guy, he will win moderate voters and retain conservative voters (who prefer the mean and nasty Trump, but who will vote for Trump due to his conservative accomplishments).

Rather depressing that the crew discussed how cool they think it would be for Trump to create a campaign strategy around “you’re a socialist and want to take away our hamburgers”.   Whatever dumbs things to CPAC level I guess. Sure Trump just got demolished 3 months ago by these guys, but screaming “they’re socialist!” should really crush them in 2020.

Can’t anybody make J Pod shut the eff up?

My god.   The podcasts are full of people with interesting ideas, let them talk once in a while.   Sometimes J Pod talks so long that the others forget the central point.

Note for Rob Long:  I actually bumped my monthly payment in order to make this comment.

An other idea:  give John an open stream podcast of his own.   Ricochet members can tune in and out at will.  Come for the knowledge of Victor Buono stay for the misunderstanding of Simon Callow writing.

@mattfleming This is The Commentary podcast and J Pod runs Commentary. He’s going to talk on his own podcast. You probably have a point for GLOP.

I understand JPod’s relationship with Commentary, but also admire Rothman’s (inter alia) intelligence and capability (if not ability) to comment.   JPod is full of energy and interesting, as so our others at Commentary.    I look forward to the future episodes of the Nobody’s Dinner with JPod podcasts.
