Here is a radical idea. Republicans unify and run on promise to free the Jan 6 protesters from prison, prosecution, pre trial detention. Make case that the 1st amendment carves out protest activity as protected group activity of the people. Prosecutors and the courts are obligated to excuse trespassing, destruction of public property, even assault on police charges when those offenses were committed in the context of the constitutional right to protest.
