Looking back on a dramatic week of impeachment inquiry proceedings, the Democrats’ position with voters appears to be deteriorating. Is it too early to judge the inquiry’s effectiveness and, if not, does that suggest that the process will fizzle?     Well, that was unexpected, @johnpodhoretz engaging in his usual hi/hi exchange with Abe and Noah and then introducing Christine by name without a hi and rolling right into the show without waiting for her to respond. Close observers are now speculating feverishly about what could have provoked such a departure from the hitherto unvarying opening ritual of the Commentary podcast. #higate
