John Podhoretz makes the point that the college loan proponents ignore the trade off involved in the actions. I think this is true for most issues. There are downsides. Perhaps the current problem with the most downsides is climate change. Democrats have been trying to reduce domestic production of oil and natural gas for years. It’s working and the result is much higher prices. They shut down a baby food factory because of possible contamination. The result is that babies go hungry. Use the slogan “Defund the police” and you get higher crime. Shut down schools because of a virus which is rarely serious for children, and the education of millions of students is set back.
