Someone needs to sort this out, and we’re just the guys to do it—Abe Greenwald, Noah Rothman, and John Podhoretz, on the first COMMENTARY podcast of the week. What’s Trump’s line? What’s the anti-Trump line? What is unmasking? Why did Trump waste a month of his presidency on a stupid tweet? Give a listen.

Soviet Ambassador? Never Trump gonna Never Trump. Surveillance on American citizens and unmasking them is fine because it was done against Trump. If it was done against a Democrat like George Bush you guys would seething.

Mollie Hemingway marginalized as a “friend of the Trump administration.”

Rather pompous take.  It’s not the 30,000 foot view.   Not even Noah’s 30 foot view.

It’s the view when you’ve put your head one foot up your arse.

Honestly. I am so tired of having to look like I’m defending Donald Trump. (Did not vote for him. Do not care for him.) But Noah Rothman’s thinking is just bizarre. He describes what’s being alleged as “small ball” because nothing big was found from the Obama administration stealthily and deliberately putting other officials at legal risk for purely partisan political gain. Why can’t it be that Flynn is a corrupt jerk and that the Obama administration did something unequivocally bad? (And have the gall to describe it in Orwellian fashion as patriotic.) You guys act like no one can read a paper or watch the news and grasp its importance without first listening to your overly wordy, theoretically fastidious analyses of the issues. I would much prefer to hear you interview someone who has written something especially good or compelling in Commentary than listen to the predictably monotonous conversations this podcast has become. Hope for the best. Expect the worst. That’s about right.

Fellas, you’ve twisted yourselves into such a pretzel that you are gonna need a chiropractor. For those who have followed this story, listening to your podcast from beginning to end was a painful chore.

I briefly considered your back and forth to be purposely dishonest, but I came around to the realization that you really haven’t been following what’s been going on. Getting your news from the Main Stream Media (and rubbing elbows with them) has failed you and your listeners.

    Try to keep up.

Reminds me of listening to the blind men of Hindustan… to learning much inclined… Sorry to pile on but that’s my honest take.

Main podcast says “Worst White House ever”. This one goes ever farther. Then you have Claire Berlinski’s Russia-behind-every-rock stuff, and hell, I haven’t even listened to Kevin Williamson in so long that I have no idea what he’s saying these days, but I’d bet money it’s similar.

What the hell with the Russia stuff? How about “Why the hell am I still a member here?”

Unbelievable skewed view of reality.  “Ridiculous waste of your time” describes this podcast precisely.

Was hoping to hear a coherent discussion of this complex matter, but gave up after 10 mins. of Mr. Podhoretz interrupting his co-host(s).

I love John P, and I used to enjoy the Commentary podcasts.  And I am a “neverTrump” guy.

But, honestly, I am getting very tired of the constant litany of how whoever in the WH sneezed yesterday is a blooming disaster and going to doom the Republicans forever, blah blah, ACHAwasatotalscrewupwhatwasRyanthinking.

If there is anything we learned last November, it was that the “rules” are changing.  I don’t think that anyone has a clue how any of this turns out, and right now Noah, Abe, and John are engaging in building more skyscrapers of doom on minimalist foundations than even the cretins at CNN and AP, and that is saying something.

Guys, please occasionally give us a topic that is more substantive than “political impacts of the latest Trump tweet”.  We can get all that nonsense endlessly7 from the NYT and WaPo.

Did they ever explain what’s going on with this Russia thing? I gave up and went to NRO to read Andrew McCarthy.

Noah was so adamant that nothing illegal was done by the Obama administration.  I hate defending the Trump administration, but last time I checked leaking classified information to the press is illegal unless you are a member of Congress (for example Patrick Leahy viz. Iran-Contra).  We know that happened, and we know there was a concerted effort within the Obama administration to disseminate classified material to a wide audience within the government.  At the very least such promulgation made odds of leaks more likely, at worst there was a conspiracy to knowingly break the law and release classified material.

If there actually is no evidence of serious wrong-doing by the Trump team at the end of the day, then this was solely a gross abuse of power by the Obama administration.  Unless there is evidence of treason on the part of Trump or his transition team, then this is still an abuse of power, but with some mitigation depending on the seriousness of crimes.

These guys are so shallow because they live in the NY/Wash media environment and never do independent research or analysis.  I’ll not waste my time any more, I can get the same deep analysis from CNN, which I don’t watch either.

Those of you complaining about this podcast seem to forget that it starts out with the great Mel Brooks song (from The 12 Chairs). OK, after that it goes downhill. But don’t give up on the first 30 seconds.

They claim that Trump will be impeached because of a tweet? Lunacy.
