The point about “Rush Limbaugh projection” was spot-on. I’d guess that grass roots conservatives thought that, because Trump could insult Megyn Kelly the way Rush insulted Sandra Fluke (the latter being blown out of proportion, in my opinion), Trump would also go after Hillary the same way Rush would. But Trump is an inarticulate liberal who knows nothing. Other than that, the plan worked perfectly.
