Trump seems to have taken Iran’s calibrated response to the U.S. strike that took out Qasem Soleimani as an opportunity to take the temperature down in the region. Will cooler heads prevail? And does the Democratic narrative, which suggests that Trump is itching for a war with Iran, make any sense?

I don’t think Iran’s response was calibrated. I believe as General Milley said, they meant to kill Americans. Instead, because of their incompetence and bloody mindedness, they killed 176 people on a commercial jet and upwards of 60 at a funeral.

If we had warning of their attack, it wasn’t from Iran.

At the time this podcast was recorded, it really did look like Iran had deliberately targeted places that would do damage but not kill anybody. It’s since been revealed that that wasn’t the case, and our intelligence gave us two hours’ notice to take shelter.
