We interrupt this week’s listener-questions podcasts with our analysis of last night’s Republican debate. The talk centers on Vivek Ramaswamy, and as such, what does that mean for the race going forward? What effect will Nikki Haley’s knockout performance have on her campaign? And whither DeSantis? Give a listen.

I also like “What We Do in the Shadows.”  But then vampire comedies are one of my favorite genres.

Watched the recommended Bogdanovich film, “Targets”, and enjoyed it.

As for the GOP field, the answer is obvious. We need a draft!  I know she is too smart to get involved in such a wretched game, but seriously, Christine day after day makes more sense than anyone running for office or engaging in punditry on those running for office.

I will never understand why Mr. Continetti always giggles and laughs when he speaks.

Commentary people, please answer: I think VR has said his approach to Taiwan is to put off the immediate threat to Taiwan by clearly signaling that China has no reason to attack now (wait a few years until the US has semi-conductor independence, then, China, consider what you want to do with Taiwan), and, if you attack now, you will be directly attacking a vital US national interest (we need semi-conductors), and you will pay the price. I’m not sure what I think of this, but it isn’t obviously crazy. I’m also not sure what I think about separating China from Russia rather than pushing them together, but these are real and serious and interesting and possibly fresh foreign policy ideas from VR that deserve attention. VR got under  Nikki Haley’s skin, but I heard her say as a key point “you’re picking evil Putin over good Ukraine.” OK, fine, but I’d like to hear above all what is in US national interest. Could you at Commentary discuss this serious question? It isn’t an argument to say VR sounds like Tucker or Nat Cons. And I haven’t heard you directly address the question of the US exerting its influence to end the war. Is it good for the US (most important for us as US citizens) or Ukraine to continue on the present course? What would victory on the present course look like? VR’s glibness is a little off-putting, but he is saying interesting and serious things.
