Koch the Mayor (as Jimmy Breslin called him) also had a great radio show. I remember one time a fellow named John called in saying that he went to New Jersey and then the bridge toll was too expensive, he couldn’t pay the fare to get back into the city. “Well, John,” Koch replied, “that is the price you pay for ever having left Shangri-La.”
