The COMMENTARY podcast attempts to predict the future. What will be the biggest events of 2020? Who will become the Democratic presidential nominee? Who will win the presidency? What trends will shape the way we live in the next decade? And how wrong were all the predictions we made last year?

“’It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future’ – Yogi Berra.

    Predictions for 2020:

Donald Trump is reelected in an electoral landslide of historic proportions – according to someone other than Donald Trump.

Solar power will not become a leading power producer – ever – and its not a battery problem. The problem is that the sun delivers 1360watts per square meter. (at best) In the past, each time we changed energy sources, we went to a higher energy density. From wood, to coal then to oil, then nuclear, green energy is a huge step backward – its lowers energy density, making it less economically viable.

There will be better batteries coming in the next few years, solid state lithium batteries. They’ll improve energy density by 5x to 8x (in the first generation) making phones, laptops and electric cars better.

Can the democrats win the senate? no, they’ll also loose the house. The Trump wave will carry the day, as Trump voters will mostly vote the straight ticket.

Biden? Maybe. I think he’s a long shot. He’s too creepy, he’s in poor health. Its amazing how bad all these democrat candidates are at this politics stuff. I think its highly likely that the democratic nominee is not even running at this point.
