Judith Miller joins City Journal associate editor Seth Barron to discuss the most recent Islamic terrorist attack in New York City.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Halloween, a 29-year-old man from Uzbekistan, Sayfullo Saipov, drove a rented pickup onto a Hudson River Park bike path in Lower Manhattan. Within ten minutes, eight people were killed and more than a dozen injured. NYPD officers responded quickly after the attack began, shooting Saipov before he could cause more mayhem. He is in police custody, and details from the incident are still emerging.

At 17:22 Ms. Miller states that most terrorism in the US is perpetrated by “right wing white supremacists and right wing groups. Those are FBI statistics” I looked around trying to find some validation for this statement but could not. However, my analysis was not very thorough. Can she back that claim up? All terrorism is bad, but to me she really blew a rather good conversation when she made this statement which seems to show blatant bias.
Just curious, too, about the right wing white supremacists and right wing groups: Do they all shout out “Our God is greatest” as they are perpetrating?
I see everyone else came straight here after Ms. Miller’s comment about right wing terror.
I don’t remember clearly, but I recall this was study was roundly criticized for its methodology – not unlike those studies that include suicides with gun deaths to make it seem that people are shooting each other much more frequently.
I too await the internet sleuthing.
If you measure it by deaths in the US in this century, then clearly radical Islam the greater danger.
No reason to be wondering why he did it. Interrogate him. He’s alive.
