In the course of a few hours, the Speaker of the House was put into timeout, her words removed from the record, and Democrats and Republicans drove themselves into fits — all over a tweet from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. We talk with Rep. Chip Roy, who was in the middle of the whole mess. Plus: Impeachment rears its head again. And: The border. Is there any reason to believe things will get better?

Good Talk! All those open boarder quotes and tweets will make great fodder for campaign ads next year.
This guy needs to be interviewed over and over on the cables so we can understand what’s really going on in DC. I’d never heard of him before, but I’ll certainly pay attention the next time I see his name in print. Thank you for this interview Byron.
Chip is a regular on the Daniel Horowitz and Steve Deace podcasts. It is generally hard for members of the House to make it to print. He barely won in 2018. Hopefully 2020 goes better as it is a presidential year. 2018 also had a Beto-effect as Beto was very popular on the UT campus, part of which is in TX21.
Great guest. Great interview. Thank you, Rep. Roy, and thank you Byron.
Thanks from me also for the interview. He worked for Senator Cruz so I’m not surprised that he’s a smart guy. I think I will adopt the 4 Speakers of the House title. Sort of goes with the 4 Horsemen (or is that Horsepersons?) of the Apocalypse.
It does seem like the people from the freedom caucus and those who were first elected when the tea party was still a thing should be raising more of a ruckus over the deficit. I would suggest that the deficit is a bigger existential threat to American freedom than China, the woke crowd, Iran, Islamic Terrorism, etc. How are we going to amp up spending for a war if we needed to. Who is going to loan us 10x the money we now spend. If we just print it even faster we really will debase it -and it is debatable as to whether we really have low inflation.
I love him.
Who? Byron or Chip?
Both.
