Remember the shooting at the House Republican baseball practice just outside of Washington? A zealous Bernie Sanders supporter and Trump hater named James Hodgkinson, armed with a semi-automatic rifle, attacked a group of GOP lawmakers as they practiced for the annual Congressional Baseball Game. Representative Steve Scalise was gravely wounded. A lobbyist was seriously hurt, and two others were wounded, as well. The shooter was specifically seeking to attack Republicans. He had in his pocket a list of GOP lawmakers he wanted to attack. And he asked before opening fire whether the group on the field was Republican or Democrat. It was an absolutely clear case of politically motivated domestic terrorism. And yet it has just been revealed that the FBI did not label it domestic terrorism. Instead, the bureau maintained that Hodgkinson was simply trying to commit “suicide by cop.” The FBI’s conclusion left Republicans stunned, and now they’re seeking answers.

Terrorism only happens against Muslims, LGBTQ+, and other Democrats.
Thanks for this. I couldn’t believe when I first read that the FBI (or fibbers as I’m taking to calling them) was labeling this attack as ‘suicide by cop’. One of the bloggers talks about how this attack has been buried in the media but that the FBI should do it too is outrageous. Also, if I were a Republican congressman, I would be looking very, very carefully at the FBI’s budget request. On a personal note, I happened to travel to New Orleans a few days after the attack when Rep. Scalise’s life was still hanging in the balance. Many of those on the flight and in Louis Armstrong airport knew him and all thought he is a great guy.
I expected that sentence to read, “A lobbyist was seriously hurt, and two humans were wounded, as well.”
Apart from the FBI’s scandalous conclusions, this podcast reminded me just how quickly the attack faded from the news. I live in Alexandria, Virginia, and no one made a peep about the story after about two days.
Yes. Can’t have a Bernie Bro wielding guns and shooting Republicans. Doesn’t fit the narrative.
Yes, it was an outrage on the part of the FBI. But what about all those congressmen who knew about the FBI’s phony conclusion nearly four years ago and remained silent? That’s an outrage, too.
