Bill explains why the movement to rid the country of statues and monuments of anyone linked to slavery or the Confederacy is wrong. He also discusses why the effort to tie President Trump and his supporters to white supremacists will backfire on liberals. Then Bill has a hilarious conversation with Steve Wynn about lessons learned from marriage and life.

While I definitely do not agree with some of Bill’s views on Trump, I am 1000% certain that Bill is not a racist just because he supported Trump.  That’s crazy talk.  And that conflation of Republicans and racism has been a political tool for multiple generations now in politics.  It’s why Reagan’s visit to the Neshoba Fair is always trotted out.

Anyway, thanks for teaching me something about Richard Stockton.  Just so you know, they are moving the bust temporarily and then putting it back in a contextualized exhibit, so that’s not like moving him forever.

Still, there is an immense wave of “presentism” rolling across the country, and it’s crazy they have conflated Stockton with Neo-Nazis because a Neo-Nazi rally is what they’re saying prompted the move.  (You know.  Slavery.  Hate.  Hate.  Slavery.  Hate. Hate. Hate.)

I blame a lot of this on poor history education in the lower grades.

How can we expect them to be deep historical thinkers when they are never shown how?
