Chang is very good….but can you get Michal Pillsbury? As someone who started studying China and Chinese Mandarin in 1968 I’m comfortable saying that until and unless you’ve absorbed Pillsbury’s “100 Year Marathon” one’s grasp of China 2021 is lacking .
I read it…and when I came to the last page I went back to Page 1 to re-read it —I had to be sure it was as good as I thought it was—-it was.
Then I read it again.
