The best of Ricochet?!?! It’s got to include the time VDH dropped an f-bomb on the flagship podcast.
(Oh, it’s the best of the week, not of all time.)
Does this mean no more Friday release of the Lads and their comedic exchanges?
Seems to be more of a way to attract membership from a like-minded audience.
I was guessing it’s more to build up some of the podcasts that get no love
This is a great addition. Thanks.
Few have time or interest to listen to every podcast. These snippets could help people choose which podcasts to listen to fully. It’s also a great way to introduce new listeners to Ricochet podcasts.
And Lileks is always a joy to hear riff.
As one of the few whose OCD spurs me to actually try to listen to EVERY PODCAST, who daily curses the Ricochet firehose, and who prays fervently and to increasingly dark gods for some overhaul in programming that lets me breathe enough to slow down the playback to under 3.x…the only thing that makes this worth listening to is Lileks. Otherwise, it’s just a rehash.
But if some find it a gateway drug to more subscriptions…go for it.
This podcast/show is not really meant for you guys — we are posting here mostly as a courtesy to let you know what we are doing. This show is aimed at people who have not heard of us (hard to believe, but there are a few). In other words, get more listeners and yes, sell some more memberships.
To heck with that! Brag about us, we like it.
Join Ricochet, folks: James Lileks (who I didn’t even know was a cartoon-man) will maybe read something you write, and if you’re really lucky, he’ll stop by to disagree with you in a way that makes you feel like one of the select few on all of the vast inter web who’s worth conversing with.
I’m sure James has this figured out, but this would fit in really well on two or three of the Salem channels in Minneapolis.
I like the idea of not missing the occasional useful quip from nevertrumpers.
Great job by Mr. Lileks. One suggestion, I don’t need to hear a snippet of the segments that you will be introducing. Redundant.
Listened. Will share with friends to entice them to join.
Not sure about that yet. Certainly not in the near term as we have guests booked on the next few Fridays. But possible down the road.
Partly this, but mostly it’s to expose what we do what we say to people who are not familiar with us.
You sir, are a Great American.
Different radio network. And this idea was discussed with Salem a while back and they passed on it.
Aw, heck! I will not disagree with this. If you are a Ricochet member, you’re automatically worth conversing with! Except for that one guy. He’s the worst.
BTW, this was the first offering; we’re still figuring out the workflow. It’ll only get better. Kudos to EJ and Yeti and Max for doing all the heavy lifting; I’m basically the guy who comes in after the work’s been done and has an argument with the producer about the proper emphasis for the phrase “In July” for a pea commercial.
This would fit really well on CRN Digital Talk.
The old “I’m basically Orson Wells” humblebrag.
Who really twirls the radio dials any more? Well, actually, I can. My yuuuuge collection of vintage audio gear (one of the reasons I moved to this place with 4,500 square feet of space) includes analog (the type with a dial scale and knob) tuners from HH Scott, Technics, Luxman…
Seriously though, it’s nice to know that The Message of The One True Ricochet is being spread to all the world.
