Ayaan speaks with Christopher Rufo about his first encounter with critical race theory (CRT), why it is so dangerous, and what is really going on in American schools. They also discuss Christopher’s experience as a documentary film maker, homelessness in San Francisco, and the decline of cities in America.

Christopher Rufo is a senior fellow and director of the initiative on critical race theory at the Manhattan Institute. He is also a contributing editor at City Journal where his writing explores a range of issues including critical race theory, homelessness, addiction, crime, and the decline of cities on America’s west coast.

Terrific podcast!  Rufo is a natural.

I chuckled when Ayaan Hirsi Ali had a slip of the tongue and called it “Criminal Race Theory”.

Rufo reminds us how for years some conservatives* told us to ignore what was going on, on campus.  The radicals would grow out of it when they had to get jobs in the real world. What happened instead, with the proliferation of diversity offices throughout the bureaucracies, was that the radicals leveraged them to take over the real world.

*It may be a little unfair, but I think of them as conservative Judas goats. No doubt there’s a big overlap with the Never Trumpers and “Republicans for Biden”.

Is there anyone in corporate media  doing the level of investigating reporting on what is happening in the cities and CRT like Rufo?

They spend their time tell us that the border is ok, mostly peaceful protest and CRT is a figment of our imagination

We have on line “training” that we have to complete for work – it is has getting more and more work propaganda and less to do with our core business

That was really good, but I would like to know why he thinks the center-left exists in any meaningful way. I think it’s a big mistake for Republicans to put any hope in that. I could be wrong.

At about 12 minutes into the podcast:

“If you look at human history, in every culture, having a nuclear household or a nuclear household plus larger kinship structures is a human universal. America is the first society in human history to attempt this experiment where we can have predominantly single parent single mother households raising kids…”

Not just America: Theodore Dalrymple has written about more or less the same problem in the UK.

So we don’t have Dad’s and Uncles teaching them history so they are left up to pop-culture and the schools. Woe is us.
