andreaCalling elections is serious business. Polls have a margin of error. Calling a state for a presidential candidate on election night has no second chances. Get it wrong and everybody is going to remember. The first major media outlet to call the 2016 presidential election for Donald Trump was the Associated Press. However, The Decision Desk called the election for Trump 35 minutes earlier.

Andrea Ruth, a writer for RedState as well as a contributor to Opportunity Lives and host of the podcast, Far Beyond The Beltway, works with The Decision Desk. She was there in NYC at the offices of Buzzfeed working the election returns and joined Jay and Neal to discuss.

The Ds have 25 Senators up in 2018 and the Rs only 8.

The Senate is not going anywhere any time soon.

I was part of Andrea’s team working the Pacific Northwest for the Decision Desk. It’s a good time and easy to be part of. A lot has gotten better since the initial effort in 2012. I enjoyed the podcast and a look behind the scenes.
