“Pay To Play” Is Too Innocuous

The great unwashed — the low information voter, the people inhabiting the left side of the bell curve, and (more to the point) Clinton supporters — don’t get it. One could easily think “pay to play” means going bowling or the admission to an amusement park. Of course, we here at Ricochet know what Hillary Clinton has done and would continue to do as president, but we’re among the one percent of informed voters.

Can you think of a better way to describe what Clinton, the State Department, and the Clinton Crime Foundation have done that would be more easily-understood by the average voter ( remember you are not an average voter). We need a bullet point or a bumper sticker. Have any?

    Sold her office.

    Sold us out.

The more we see of her, though, the more “Crooked Hillary” works.  It’s almost Homeric.  “Grey-eyed Athena.”  “Rosy-fingered dawn.”  “Crooked Hillary.”   It’s growing on me.

Influence Peddling. Taking money from hostile governments who kill gays, don’t let women vote or drive, and think it’s okay to set their wives on fire. The money taken is in exchange for favors given by Hillary and by extension our government, to foreign governments whose interests are not aligned with ours.  Anyone else who had done half what she’s done would have been in prison years ago.

You’re correct.  Pay to play is a bit tenuous.  What’s needed is a demonstrable quid pro quo arrangement where a donor received something that could be construed as a favor in return.  Making a few phone calls on behalf of someone falls short in the absence of an indication that the calls generated some action.  I’ve been trying to get to Clinton Cash on my reading list, so I’m not sure if there’s something there.

Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High crimes and Misdemeanors.

Bullet point John. Remember we at Richochet are off the charts voter wise, you are of the charts Richochet wise.

They saw a river of charity money and decided to build a dam. Now they have a reservoir of funds to trickle to the needy downstream.  Thirst makes them dependent and loyal and thankful. We call them genius.

She hasn’t been arrested, tried or convicted as yet. I think everyone is afraid of her as her reach is so tenacious, worse than J. Edgar Hover.

She was in town today.  Apparently there were some 50 cops ( secret service or pigs as she calls them) around her.

    I skipped the event

This is silly.  Of course they get it.  They just don’t care.  Why should they?  They know the system is gamed.  They know it is corrupt.  Pointing out that government officials are corrupt is like pointing out that water is wet.  Duh.  Since from their point of view all government officials are corrupt why should they choose your corrupt GOP candidate over their corrupt Democrat candidate that is promising them free stuff?

This is, actually, the reaction I get from liberal friends when I point out that Hillary is corrupt. “Well, politicians are all corrupt…but TRUMP!”

Fear of Trump (sadly, not entirely irrational) is shutting down even as much rational conversation of whether Hillary’s corruption is of a different order, or whether government corruption in general is something we should encourage by voting for obviously corrupt candidates.

    How about ironic bumper stickers?

Bribery, simply bribery.  I like the term because everyone can understand it, everyone knows it involves giving money for something to be done that otherwise wouldn’t have been done.  You know, like selling off uranium stockpiles, that sort of minor stuff.  Bribery!

I would use the word traitor, or treason if describing the act.  But we live in an age of adults expressing child-like feelings, I wouldn’t want to scare anyone by using “aggressive” language.

Its bribery pure and simple. Everybody is against this sort of thing when it is donations to a politicians campaign why is it any different when it is to a candidate’s corrupt charity foundation.

Mother of the Bribe – it would work for Trump’s attack style too, calling her MOB Clinton. You make the Bribe emphasis and get to use mob for a common criminal enterprise.

Dirty White Sox Politics – for sports fans and other low attention voters.  You can talk about an easily referenced sports scandal and juxtapose accountability then to the lack found now. Plus, a dig a Chicago style politics brings Obama into the conversation.

Welcome to the Bungle – if you got the money honey, you get what you please….

Some thoughts that might have shot at sticking in this pop culture hashtag world we wade through.

It does, and I think after making the initial remark you could say Grandma of the Bribe as a separate dig at her age. I’d quibble too many digs at once loses the message, but then again this election season…
