Nashville Mega Meetup

nashvilleSomething really special is happening here in Nashville April 10-12: the Nashville Mega Meetup! Some of Ricochet’s most beloved members and contributors will be descending upon Middle Tennessee for a weekend-long bacchanalia that will include a pond-side country bonfire, tours of Belmont Mansion and the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, sightseeing in Nashville, and a lovely capstone dinner at Circa Grill Sunday evening. Right now, our numbers are hovering around 50! I believe this makes the Nashville Mega Meetup the biggest Ricochet has ever seen. Since we in the South are known for our hospitality, I’d like to invite y’all to join us for this weekend extravaganza full of good food, strong drinks, and sparkling company.

So come on down to Nashville, and rub elbows with the likes of Troy Senik, Frank Soto, Dave Carter, Fred Cole, Jason Rudert, James of England, Pleated Pants Forever, Aaron Miller, 6ft2inhighheels, yours truly, and many others. If you don’t come, you may regret it for the rest of your life, bless your heart! Remember, to attend you must be a member. So join Ricochet today and come see us in Music City.

UPDATE: The Shadowy Forces That Be have created a coupon code for non-members who want to join in order to attend the Nashville meet-up. Just type in MEETUP at the link or click here for the special offer!

tours of Belmont Mansion and the Jack Daniels Distillery

As someone who has “toured” the Coors brewery in Golden (many times!), we were told by one of our tour guides that the Colorado School of Mines’ students would show up, then ask for “the short tour” – meaning they skip the technical brewery part of the tour (the “long” tour) and head directly to the tasting room.

On the other hand, Neutral Observer and I are very interested in both – the technical tour, and the tasting tour, which begs the question:

Will there be repeat short tours just in case we haven’t . . . er . . . sampled everything?  I guess this means a cab to the Circa Grill Sunday night – woohoo!

    Dear Miss Contessa,

I regret deeply that I will be unable to attend. I’m going to Jackson.

    Regards,

VC – thanks so much to you and Das for all your great efforts organizing. I know it is like herding cats around here.

If we hit triple digits I’ll arrive wearing flat fronts and my Dole/Kemp t-shirt riding on a giraffe rino Toyota.

Where are we meeting Friday night?  And what time?  Leaving work a tad early to make the drive, and want to make sure I leave enough time to get there.

It should also be noted that the NRA is having their annual meeting in Nashville on the same weekend. So if one of the Ricochet activities does not appeal to you, you can drop by and visit those Second Amendment champions of the NRA as they show off the best of modern day fire power. I believe this is known in modern day parlance as a twofer.

Pants- I cannot tell you how many times the phrase “like herding cats” has been used in the past week in reference to Ricochet and coordinating an event of this size. And despite my well documented talents at getting triple digit comments on my posts, I don’t think we’ll be able to hit triple digit numbers in attendance. I guess we’ll all have to settle for you pulling up in your Pinto sporting some Dockers and a Ross Perot shirt.

Frank- the bonfire is at my family’s land out in the cont’ry south of Franklin. I guess people will start showing up around 5:30-6ish. There’s no real set time. I’ll be sending out the address with directions to everyone via personal email (see, there was a reason I asked for everyone’s) the Monday or Tuesday before the meet up. I’ll also have an itinerary with addresses and such in the email.

VC, we already have April vacation/meetup plans the third week.  Going to Hillsdale National Leadership Seminar in Denver, then to Colorado Springs to meet up with Western Chauvinist and friends.  Libertybelle and her hubby will be at the Denver event, so we’ll have a dose of Ricochet wherever we are.  We hope you guys will have a most excellent time, and post lots of pictures and commentary.  BTW, we are both employed full time, so not as free as some.

Exactly what does a meetup have to do before it qualifies as a mega meetup? Are there levels above mega? At what level do Rob and Peter start showing up? At what level do we get to meet Claire?

I forgot to ask – should I bring some fresh giraffe steaks to cook in the bonfire?  After all, it sounds like it starts around dinner time . . . just need to know what to bring (food or drinks).  Okay, maybe you’ve already said it, but the Meetup web site now has 300 posts for Nashville!  I’m just to lazy to wade through all of them . . .

My mom and I are cooking- I use that term lightly since it’s pretty hard to mess up hot dogs and pasta salad. They’ll be hotdogs, pasta salad, fruit & veggies, gourmet s’mores bar, desserts, all the normal bonfire fare. Y’all can bring whatever adult beverages you want. We’ll have soda & water.
If you’re going to slaughter Troy’s beloved, I would certainly do it when he isn’t around.
