I loved watching football, a classic American game. It is like chess, with violence. My husband and I enjoyed watching together and discussing the games. He is a knowledgeable and astute student of the sport. It was a fun thing to do together when the weather is bad, which it often is in our neck of the woods.

We are done. I cancelled our DirecTV account this morning. The nice man I spoke to tried hard to induce me to change my account to a no-sports package. I declined, and asked him to inform his supervisors that I was cancelling the account over the disrespect to my country. I am not going to pay to watch people insult me.
