Florida Ascendant: ‘It Ain’t Bragging If It’s True!’

Bragging rights of some new Floridians!

This meme so perfectly sums up the way we, and so many of our fellow Floridians (and DeSantis supporters, but I repeat myself!) feel about our State and perhaps those of us who are relatively new to The Sunshine State feel it even more keenly. But the column below from Powerline puts the numbers and data to the real phenomenon and those numbers are nothing short of remarkable! One line in that article really caught our eyes as discussed below.

As is obvious, I stole the title above from the Powerline piece (in the best plagiarism tradition of “our” “President”) but it fit too perfectly not to use it. The figures, from current census bureau data, speak for themselves and show that while the deepest blue of all the states, New York, California, Minnesota, and Illinois, are quite literally hemorrhaging population, Florida and Texas lead the country in population gain:

Zelenskyy – A President Who Loves His Country! And Would Die For It.

“It was a privilege to see a leader in whom honor is personified.”

I write to urge every single American who has not seen the indescribably moving speech of President Zelenskyy and the heart-rending video which accompanied it to please, please watch it, as “those who watched Mr. Zelensky’s address to the joint congressional session won’t soon forget it.”, as stated in an op-ed in this morning’s Wall Street Journal. Here is the full video, with apologies for the nanny-warning of our betters, but this was the best one I could find.

A Disgusting Poll Result In these days of the bleakness and weakness of the current “Administration”, it is easy enough to say-as I do just about every day lately- that almost nothing could surprise me anymore about the depths of the decline our beloved Nation has fallen into. The evidence envelops us, from Ukraine-Russia, gas […]

If You Wanted to Destroy the Republic and Drive Conservatives Mad, What Would You Do Differently?

The sadly deceased Rush had a wise saying he repeated often, and it was to this effect: we on the right make the mistake of thinking those on the far-left are rational, thinking people, but maybe a bit misguided, and they just need to be persuaded to love the country as we do.

They are neither rational, reasonable, logical, nor thinking people as we consider those terms and some — many? — really don’t love their country at all. See, for example, statements like that made by the former (thank God!) Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo: “America was never great to begin with.”

I saw this on Powerline this morning and it practically brought me to tears; I knew the minute I finished it that it had to be shared. No words are needed to describe this magnificent little girl, singing her song- in a bomb shelter. Little girl singing "Let it go" in a shelter#UkraineRussianWar #Ukraine #UkraineUnderAttack […]

There’s an old saying, deployed when trying to explain in words an event or experience which simply cannot be captured in mere words—such as a magnificent aria like Nessun Dorma from Turandot sung by Luciano Pavarotti or hearing Handel’s Messiah at Christmas time in a beautiful Church sanctuary all bedecked in the finery of the […]

Hope springs eternal. What, exactly, do we mean when we talk about “The Spirit of America”? As the volume of the literature on that subject is, to put it mildly, voluminous, I will not even make an attempt to start that discussion. However, luckily I don’t have to as this video demonstrates the very essence […]

Buddy: Two Weeks of Sheer Joy. Then…

Buddy left us a week ago, only two weeks after he came to us as a frightened, bewildered, emaciated little pup. We learned later he was almost certainly too old to be called a “pup”, but that’s the way we always saw him.

I wrote about the happy and spirit-filled first days of his time with us in Buddyhere and here, which account gives just a little taste of how many smiles he brought to this home with an infectious spirit which was so catching it gradually became evident that even My Lady’s huge cat was beginning to warm up to him. That “thawing” truly approached the miraculous level as that member of the family had never had any competition for his Mistress’ attention before!

Around this house of transplanted Tiger Fans (as they say, we bleed Purple and Gold, even though we wound up in Gatorland!) we know– win, lose or draw tonight in the big show— LSU’s Jeaux is headed for the history books as one of the greatest QB’s  in the history of the sport! We – […]

A Nightmare Scenario.  In a recent witty and very clever treatment of a most unpleasant and potentially dangerous situation we are faced with in regard to the presidential line of succession, the author considers the fate of the Nation in the hands of those in line to become President after-not if- “Clueless Joe” shuffles off […]

Buddy: Who Says You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks?

We see bumper stickers like this all the time and little did we know that very soon we would be thinking the same thing.

For whatever reason, I’m not much on signs and portents, having always associated that kind of talk with New Age thinking and pixie dust. No more! Because Buddy came to us after two unmistakable signs in the space of a few hours and we have thanked our lucky stars ever since. Here’s Buddy, our new resident and family member for a little over a week now, sitting next to My Lady, his new best friend:

Here is the inexplicably strange set of facts which led Buddy to us. Very briefly, Sign One involved the fact that I never, never watch television of any kind during the day, probably a remnant of the days I was working all the time in the salt mines of the Law Practice known as George and George, Ltd.

‘All Animals Are Equal, but Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others.’

I need help in trying to understand some of the deep thinking of this “Administration” with the most recent example being the grossly unfair and, if done by anyone but our Potemkin “President,” near illegal announcement that he would only consider a black female for the next seat on the Supreme Court. Here is my question: I would sincerely appreciate it if anyone can tell me the difference between what he (yes, I know and we all know “he” doesn’t do anything but…) is doing and what this sign from our earlier days represents:

How were Mexicans treated during Jim Crow laws? - Quora

Or this one from London:

A Monty Python Insurrection? “Once More Unto The Breach, Dear Friends!”- On Golf Carts?

The Charge of the (Very, Very) Light Brigade, Biden-Garland Version.

I. Some Preliminary Background to my Different Take on These Indictments.

While the title and sub-title of this piece might suggest otherwise, this will be, or attempt to be, a very serious discussion about most serious matters raised by the indictment handed down recently charging several so-called “insurrectionists” with the most serious charge of “Seditious Conspiracy”. That said, my take on the aspects of this case which strike me as the most grave may not- surely will not- be the same as those so gleefully cheered on by the Democrat-Media-Never Trumper- RINO-January 6 was an armed insurrection! crowd, but I repeat myself. And, to be as clear as I know how to express it in words, everything said here is against the universal revulsion we all have felt by the damage to property and persons that day-most especially the cruelest act of all, the inexplicable shooting of Ashli Babbitt, and the hysterical, near-maniacal reaction of certain of our “leaders” describing it as the worst threat to the Republic in its entire history.

I can only speak for myself, but I am going to allow this to be a harbinger of hope for the future of the Republic as proof positive that at least some of the checks and balances envisioned by The Founders are functioning as planned. Here’s the article from Just The News: In a Thursday […]

New credo of the Biden “Administration”? I just noted this on Revolver.com, more and more one of my first “go-to” sites every morning, and it seemed to me to be too intriguing, if that’s the word for this kind of weirdness, a good word to describe this entire period on our history, not to share. […]

Kristallnacht in America? Unthinkable!

Think again.

Kristallnacht, a word even those of us who know no German recognize immediately as a harbinger of real, barbaric terror. The very sound of it is to so many whose forbears suffered horribly through those days, and also to those of us who only know of its murderous rampages by study and reading, terrifying.

Reasons for Cautious Optimism From Supreme Court Oral Arguments on Vaccine Mandates?

Based on reporting by such disparate sources as The New York Times and Alex Berenson, in my humble opinion one of the most knowledgeable and reliable sources of information and actual, fact-based data on the COVID-19 pandemic and the hysterical overreaction to it, it appears from today’s oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court that the heretofore unknown legal doctrine known as “the Constitutional workaround,” also known as the vaccine mandates, is about to go down in flames. This is just a very brief notice of the arguments and not a researched piece about the various legal points involved, but it does appear that a majority of the justices are ready to hold these incredible overreaches on the part of the current “administration” what many thought they were the day they were announced — blatantly violative of the Constitution of the United States.

Here is the NYT lead, as quoted in the Berenson newsletter:
