So Hurricane Ida is wading ashore roundabouts New Orleans. The President is a Democrat, so don’t expect headlines, but I still hope that everybody down there is going well — do we have any Ricochetti in the zone? Preview Open
Sorry, you Biden-puffing Democrat piece of work. I don’t care if you ran through Hell and put out the fires with a shovel.
Rep. Seth Moulton (MA), an Iraq War veteran and progressive Democrat, has refused to apologize to critics — including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) — for his decision to take an unauthorized trip to Kabul to witness the Biden administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal operations firsthand — and he continued to blast the Biden administration in a tell-all interview with New York Magazine.
Right now, across the country, well-meaning people are furiously formulating plans for what to do about our case of COINus Interruptus. But things were just getting good (so good), and we were holding the fort down with only 2,500 troops, and look at all these other troops we have elsewhere — why can’t we have […]

This deserves a lengthy treatement — a short one will have to do.
In 2004, Abu Bakr Naji, a suspected al-Qaeda strategist, published an online manuscript entitled, The Management of Savagery: The Most Critical Stage Through Which the Umma Will Pass, which was translated into English in 2006 by William McCants, a fellow at West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center.

This is a YouTube video documenting (in somewhat cloying style) the reduction and turnover of British Camp Bastion to the ANA in 2014. It is worth watching in its entirety, but fast forward whenever the awful bagpiping comes on. The central figure, the good LtCol in charge of reducing the base, seems a fine gentleman, […]
All Afghans are threatened by the Taliban, whatever an “Afghan” is. Women are treated as property and so are boys, and so are subordinate males if caught out of their zone. Depends how subordinate.
There is not a single benefit brought by the Taliban which makes the overall result worthwhile, except for a crust of apologists similar to and sometimes overlapping with our own pinko apologists for the mass-murdering despot states of the 20th century. And believe me, you are about to start hearing (once again) of the benefits brought by the Taliban. Nazis made the trains run on time, etc.
Sorry — I went hoping again, and rapidly thought my way out of it. I had hoped that there might be some way to begin impounding records of military plans and the planning process, but the goals and means both militate against this happening. Preview Open
Remember that the Democrats get to tank the economy, prolong the pandemic, abandon Americans while losing Afghanistan, etc… all without a price to pay. The shambling remains of Joe Biden will eventually pack all of this sin out into the desert. Seems inconceivable now, but in a year’s time, Joe will just be that one […]
What is the succession plan for the “leadership” of the US? Sure, there’s an official chart, and Kamala Harris will “fleet up” to the first chair. That’s the plan. But what’s actually going to happen? Preview Open
Just a thought. Plan A, to the extent there is a plan at all, is to haul donkey out of Afghanistan. This administration is not good at planning, and not good at carrying out plans. While there is plenty of momentum for getting out, look at the initial action here as a microcosm: we pulled […]
Not sure of the etiqutte for various links out. Here’s a clip on Rumble.com of a C-17 taxiing with a bunch of Afghans clinging to the outside. This is NOT one of the more disturbing videos, except for the heartbreaking human story, and of course, the disastrous incompetence. The link: Preview Open
I’ll keep this pithy, maybe above the fold. Despite what I and others have said and reacted to, namely the Afghanistan news, Afghanistan and the pullout in a way do not matter, and here’s why: We are already bought in for a full-price ride to Hell. China is going to capitalize on our weakness and […]
I keep hearing about how we spent a zillion dollars and twenty years to train and equip the Afghan Army, and then this breakneck blitzkrieg somehow washed away that feeble host, and now the Taliban has all of our old stuff that we had turned over to the Afghan Army. Stavridis and Kirby and their people are shocked.
Occam’s razor alone will tell you that the one was largely the other. It’s not as though the Taliban was forced to fight their way into each city and break out of the hedgerow country (poppy rows?) to secure flanks. It’s more likely that they went to the office one day with their ANA hats on, and went home that day wearing “more traditional” headgear. I’m sure there has been some fighting, but I doubt it has been along the lines of conquering a “country”.
Howdy, folks. Yes, it’s me. We shall see if my return meets with official indifference. I wrote a note to TPTB a couple of days ago (fair warning!), and have exercised the site’s JOIN function to re-join. One aspires to benign neglect. On the other hand, if I disappear, well, they haven’t exactly told me […]
