Lone Star Wars

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… A long time ago in a Treaty not so far removed…

EPISODE I

Turmoil has engulfed the Galactic Republic. The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute. Turmoil had engulfed the European countries. Newly minted French control of the Louisiana Territory made President Jefferson anxious.
Hoping to resolve the matter with a deadly blockade of deadly battleships, the greedy Trade Federation has stopped all shipping to the small planet of Naboo. Hoping to resolve ownership and remove a French threat, Jefferson sent emissaries to negotiate with the greedy French commander Napoleon. Save Florida and Texas, the entire French territory known as Louisiana was transferred to the United States in 1803, doubling the size of the country with one Treaty and nearly $15 million.
While the Congress of the Republic endlessly debates this alarming chain of events, the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict…. But the purchase did not settle boundaries. Endless debates arose between the United States and its neighbor, Spain. Though reluctant to agree, Spain finally subsided in 1819, relinquishing to the US western Florida and many lands lying across the gulf coast. In exchange, Spain was to maintain a western boundary of the Sabine River and southern bank of the Arkansas River, the boundary then running due north until it struck the Red River and followed its course to the [98th] meridian, where it then crossed the Red River and ran due north to the Arkansas.

EPISODE II

There is unrest in the Galactic Senate. Several thousand solar systems have declared their intentions to leave the Republic. But there was unrest in Texas. Thousands of American settlers, concerned by the rise of a centrist Mexican government, declared their intention to leave Mexico and announced Independence.
This separatist movement, under the leadership of the Mysterious Count Dooku, has made it difficult for the limited number of Jedi Knights to maintain peace and order in the galaxy. After winning a few small early skirmishes, the separatist movement was caught unprepared. Mexican President Santa Anna dispatched General Urrea toward the Texas Coast on the Goliad campaign, and himself into San Antonio, where the significantly outnumbered Texans were defeated at the Battle of the Alamo.
Senator Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, it returning to the Galactic Senate to vote on the critical issues of creating an ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC to assist the overwhelmed Jedi…. Sam Houston, the leader of the Texian army, moved troops to the border of Louisiana where they would train for the critical Battle of San Jacinto. There, Mexican forces were overtaken and pushed back south of the Rio Grande.

EPISODE III

War! The Republic is crumbling
Under attacks by the ruthless
Sith Lord, Count Dooku.
There are heroes on both sides.
Evil is everywhere.
Mexican-American War! Texas had been granted legitimacy by the US and in 1838 entered into a treaty that left the northern and eastern boundaries of the Republic unchanged from the agreement the US had entered into with Spain. But Mexico would not relent, refusing to recognize Texas as its own nation.
In a stunning move, the fiendish droid leader, General Grevious, has swept into the Republic capital and kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine, leader of the Galactic Senate. In a stunning move, President Polk annexed the Republic of Texas in 1845. Frustrated by Mexico’s unwillingness to negotiate, General Taylor, at Polk’s direction, swept into Corpus Christi in order to advance on the Rio Grande.
As the Separatist Droid Army attempts to flee the besieged capital with their valuable hostage, two Jedi Knights lead a desperate mission to rescue the captive Chancellor…. Viewing this as an act of war, Mexican-American hostilities persisted from 1846–1847, until American troops seized Mexican cities in the east, west, and all along the coast. Texas was safely in the hands of the United States but boundary disputes as to the 1819 Treaty would soon cause Texas to take desperate steps.

EPISODE IV

It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire Following a period of civil war, boundary disputes between Texas, Oklahoma, and the US became commonplace. Landowners from Texas and the Oklahoma territory had struck a hidden supply of oil, while Indian tribes had won victories against the United States, ensuring parcels of land be set aside from the Oklahoma territory for their use.
During the battle, rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. During the ongoing legal battles of the early 20th century, Texas maintained that ownership of half of the Red River, from where the Sabine met the Arkansas to the 98th meridian, belonged to Texas. The United States challenged both Texas and Oklahoma, ultimately attempting to steal away the entire bed of the Red River.
Pursued by the Empire’s sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy…. Pursued by the US and Oklahoma, which had also levied an attack for the entire river bed, the State of Texas raced to the Supreme Court as custodian of Texans’ legal claims that could save their property and [i]mpirically push the sinister agents out of Texas.

EPISODE V

It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursued them across the galaxy. It was a dark time for Texas, the Supreme Court left Texas south of the southern gradient boundary of the Red River, Oklahoma north of the medial line of the Red River, and the US between the two. Texas would have access to the water, but would stop at the southern “bank at the mean level of the water, when it washes the bank without overflowing it…” subject to the laws of erosion, accretion, and avulsion.
Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker base on the remote ice world of Hoth. Evading worse results, Texas held off Oklahoman and US assaults which alleged the state boundary should be “at the foot of the range of hills or bluffs which fringes the south side of the valley through which the river runs.”
The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker, has dispatched thousands of remote probes into the far reaches of space…. But the United States, obsessed with centralization and crushing the Texas spirit and property rights, has dispatched yet another attempt on lands stretching across 116 miles of the Red River. The United States alleges that the high bluffs the Supreme Court shut them out from in 1923, are in fact the boundary that has always existed.

EPISODE VI

Luke Skywalker has returned to his home planet of Tatooine in an attempt to rescue his friend Han Solo from the clutches of the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt. Texas Public Policy Foundation returns to the courts in an attempt to rescue property owners and counties along the disputed stretch from the clutches of the vile governmental mess that is the Bureau of Land Management.
Little does Luke know that the Galactic Empire has secretly begun construction on a new armored space station even more powerful that the first dreaded Death Star. The Bureau has begun a not-so-secret plan to wrest control and title of 90,000 acres along the Red River from Texas landowners. Growing more powerful, and largely unchecked, the Bureau assumes its dominion is almost complete.
When completed, this ultimate weapon will spell certain doom for the small band of rebels struggling to restore freedom to the galaxy… If no fight is given, this ultimate bureaucratic weapon will spell certain doom for property owners. But for the small band of rebels fighting to restore freedom to the Red River border, the Empire — rather, the Beltway — will continue its tyrannical path toward abolishing state’s sovereignty, identity, and spirit.

Enjoyed the post, very much. It is still a sad thing that the Texas Republic gave up its Navy fleet as a condition to join the Union. If we still had our ships, we could retrofit them and invade DC.

    Another Texan here –welcome!
