The King of Stuff chats with Amity Shlaes, author of The Great Society, Coolidge, The Forgotten Man, and editor of the new Autobiography of Calvin Coolidge. She serves as chair of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation and talks about his unique inauguration, his executive style, and what Joe Biden could learn from him. Then Jon talks about the end of the Trump era and the beginning of (shudder) the Biden Era.

Amity Shlaes joins Brian Anderson to discuss a classical liberal perspective on the coronavirus shutdown, the similar responses of U.S. mayors to violent disorder in both the late 1960s and in 2020, and the shift in what’s considered acceptable economic thought in journalism. Read Shlaes’ latest book, Great Society: A New History, to learn more.

Bill spoke with Amity Shlaes about her latest book, “Great Society: A New History”.

Amity Shlaes is the author of Great Society: A New History, a sweeping revision of our last great period of governmental idealism, the 1960s. She is the presidential scholar at The Kings College in New York, chairs the board of trustees of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation, and previously wrote bestsellers The Forgotten Man and Coolidge. (You really need to read them all!)
