Election 2024
I’ll Drink to That!
I have just poured a glass of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked bourbon to celebrate the departure of the second-worst President of my lifetime.
I wish Joe Biden nothing but peace and comfort in his final years. I also hope that future historians, for the sake of truth and the honor of their profession, will correctly record him as a foolish, deeply corrupt, and fundamentally dishonorable man, and a disgrace to his country.

“You gotta calm the – – – – down.”
Dear Brady, fueling despair in the classroom is toxic. Don’t do it.
This essay appeared last month in my Substack publication “Eclectic Currents.” I wrote to my younger self, early in my teaching career as a device to scold present educators about freaking out at school after the 2024 election results.
The Defenders of Democracy ™ who were Nothing of the Kind
Anyone with a good background in junior high civics and a modicum of sense knew that all the slogan-shrieking, table-pounding, stentorian “defenders of democracy,” who so seriously, often times melodramatically decried the horrors awaiting us, should Trump and the Republicans win in November was nonsense. Slogans like: “It will be our last election!,” “Democracy is on the line!,” and similar hysterically hyperbolic fear-mongering were the order of the day for months.
A democracy is supposed to admit, allow, even encourgage the formation of different political parties, though. At least, any democracy worth the name would be required to grant competing parties the chance to acquit themselves or fail in the arena of public opinion. Right?

No Red Wave in the Commie State of Washington
Sigh… The so-called voters of Seattle and King County have assured that our entire state is now represented in DC by Democrats. Every single Republican candidate was defeated by healthy margins. Our entire state government is now in Far-Left hands, and the suffering will be increasing. Here are a couple of posts I wrote on my personal blog, describing what is happening in the Leftist-most State of the entire country. We even beat California for that dubious distinction. And I have been released from Twitter/X jail. One great benefit of being there is meeting and interacting with a slew of locals who are conservative, so we have someone to commiserate with!

Trump’s Victory in Two Graphs
I’ve done some analysis on the exit polls, comparing the results of Trump/Harris 2024 with Trump/Biden 2020. I’ve come up with two graphs that you may find interesting.
Both graphs show Trump’s increased or decreased margin of victory for various groups, with a positive number indicating that Trump did better among that group, and a negative number indicating that he did worse. As an example, Trump’s margin of victory changed by -5% (i.e. it decreased) among white voters, who he won by a margin of 12% in 2024 (55%-43%) and won by a margin of 17% in 2020 (58%-41%)

They’ve Been Doing This for Decades
I watched this happen twice in Northern Virginia, and I’ve heard it explained before, but this is the first time I’ve seen an expert brief it in a shareable format. And he focuses on Philadelphia, a jurisdiction as shameless as any other. I have been told by Democrats that it is just how business is done. I have been told by Republicans that it would be more harmful to diminish faith in the electoral system than to oppose permanent, systemic voter fraud. Journalists have told me their editor won’t let them, their lawyers won’t let them, or management outright admits the city prosecutors would wage withering lawfare if they did. Factors that have always helped keep “journalism” locked down. It’s part of the “narrative” discipline. The city prosecutors and police objected to me about wasting finite resources needed for the prosecution of violent crimes and gangs on corrupt party operatives and their gang buddies.
Viva Frei interviews Mark Groubert starting at 22 minutes. He is worth a listen. NSFW (they also discuss Bill Clinton). The opening is Viva Frei’s take on the Peanut scandal, and worth a listen.
