Back in the Game, Skin and All
After an unfortunate absence of well over a year, It feels great to once again have access to all the benefits offered by the best community on the web. I had made the hard choice of letting my membership slip in the face of oncoming marriage and home ownership (belt tightening and austerity was the rage at the time.)
Rejoining, I am reminded of how I first followed Peter and Rob here from NRO. I then joined this site because of the banter offered between them and James on the main podcast. I continued to stop by each day for the well written articles and insight. I still eagerly wait for the newest podcasts of all the great reoccurring shows hosted here.
I doubt I made a particularly large impact on the community with either my presence or my absence. While I was a member I mostly lurked and dipped in to the occasional conversation to splash around a bit, before jumping back out.
But during my exile, I really missed the unfettered access to the members section. Funny, engaging, informative, and enraging, the membership feed offers a level of interaction rare in the real world and unheard of on the internet.
So thanks to everyone for maintaining a safe haven from the ugly and uncivilized discourse found everywhere else. Thanks for the opportunity to engage at my choosing and even bring up points of discussion on my own. Thanks for the hundreds of hours of entertaining podcasts.
But most of all, thanks to Rob and Peter for taking a chance and betting on community, thoughtful discourse, and top-notch commentary.
