</object>Somewhere between the erudite law discussions, the squishy interventions, the rollicking exuberance of Steyn/Goldberg/Long, and the penetrating analysis of the weekly Ricochet Podcast, the editors found just enough space to park an 18 wheeler.&nbsp; Their lapse in judgement is my gain because it gives me the opportunity to take you on the road with me, as it were.

Once every two weeks (more or less) I will turn the recorder on and bring you into a rather unique world.&nbsp; You’ll hear the sounds of the road, from conversations with interesting people to the sound of my company’s onboard computer literally telling me what to do.&nbsp; From my own musings and essays to the sound of a 40 ton beast winding through gears and traffic.

In this short inaugural podcast, the idea was simple:&nbsp; Try to impart what it is that makes life on the road so appealing, and how it can get in one’s bloodstream and stay there.&nbsp; I used the sounds of my own truck mixed in with my audio.&nbsp; I do hope you will enjoy it.&nbsp;

    That was great, Dave. The call of the open road is very powerful. I drove a big truck for a little while too, and I still, 20 years later, get the urge to head out across this beautiful country.

    The ambient sounds are so soothing. Can you just record like eight hours worth so I can listen to it on my mp3 player at work?

    I can’t wait to hear your podcasts, Dave. I’m still in awe of that massive truck you drive around. And I’m still so excited that I actually got to sit in the driver’s seat and hear and feel it rumble. And, of course, I got to touch “the cap”!!

    Yes, future episodes will be made available through iTunes. But as Rob Long constantly reminds me, they will be ….behind the paywall!
