Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Racism Is Alive and Well

Saying that black Americans can’t be racist because they are an oppressed group has never been acceptable to me. You only need to look at the history of the Black Hebrew Israelites to realize that racism against white people not only exists, but it is overt, ugly and frightening. This is the group that harassed the teenagers at the March for Life.

Glenn Beck did some research on the Black Hebrew Israelites group:

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. No Woman Would Choose to Have a Third Trimester Abortion Needlessly

I generally try to stay away from Facebook during debates on abortion. I’ve come to this decision from a great deal of experience doing the opposite, and I’ve come to the conclusion that for my own mental health and soul, I don’t need to know how many in my social circle are perfectly comfortable with barbarism. In the course of scrolling the other day, I saw a debate over the new law passed in New York allowing abortion, for basically any reason whatsoever, up until the moment of birth. It is evil personified, and unfortunately, a number of friends were cheering this advancement for “women’s health.”

One of my friends posted a comment that elicited a number of “likes” from the like-minded, proclaiming how sexist it is to accuse women of walking into a third-trimester abortion needlessly, because no woman would or could ever do that to their body and their child without “good” reason.

Those who debate politics and current events have had increasing difficulty describing what they see. The terms we’ve used in the past (liberal vs conservative, Democrat vs Republican, and so on) seem to be less helpful these days. I have long thought that the real division in our country was more ‘rural vs urban’ rather than ‘Republican vs Democrat.’ But I’m starting to think that we have devolved from the egalitarian republic designed by our forefathers into something not unlike the European feudal systems which our forefathers were trying to escape.

Until recently, I have read arguments supporting this view of ‘elites vs everybody else’ with some skepticism, because I didn’t really understand what exactly that division was (I still don’t) and I didn’t consider being lectured to about global warming by a professor at the University of Nowhere as a phenomenon worth discussing. Who cares who those people are or what they think? But for some reason, Roger Stone’s recent arrest had a big impact on me. I think that was a significant event in our nation’s history. Either that or I’m just now catching on to what’s been happening for a long time.

I am in the process of replacing my laptop, which seldom left my desk, with a monstrously large, fast and capacitous desktop system (tower, actually, and this damn thing towers). I love the big monitor and the speed at which it processes sound files as I am editing audiobooks, so I am happy. My Dell laptop […]

Is it common knowledge that in Brazil, a motel is strictly a place of assignation? You and your lover check in for 2 or 3 hours. A motel in the American sense, a “motor hotel,” is I think called a pousada and is actually pretty rare. But Brazilian motels are all over, and perfectly legal, […]

You are washed up President Trump – pack your bags – no re-election for you! You’re finished! These were the headlines after President Trump ended the government shut-down….on a “partial basis”. Wow – So border security is the only issue? Never mind he brought back major companies to the US, renegotiated the NAFTA deal, lowered […]

New York City, 2032– A group of terrorists, who managed to enter the city limits possibly with the aid of underground radical sympathizers, entered the Times Square Women’s Reproductive Rights Clinic and destroyed several CUOMO™ self-service robotic pregnancy termination machines. The suspects, who wore masks and hoodies managed to escape authorities and are still at […]

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Concerts and Cell Phones

Last night my husband Seth and I went to a concert in D.C., something we rarely do. Nine times out of ten, they’re his concerts, and I don’t really enjoy them regardless, and so, people doing things around me that ruin the experience don’t resonate, because I’m already not particularly enjoying the experience. But last night was a concert of mine, something we do every five years or so, and I actually cared about the experience.

We were sitting in the rafters until the concert started, and then stood up. Because I’m short, this was basically my view:

We’ve all heard the stereotypical “They all look alike” comments from us white folk in regard to recognizing different black faces. Sadly, blacks do tend to look similar (at least to me for blacks I don’t know personally), because I believe our genetics make us more sensitive to recognizing others of our own genetic makeup. […]

Karl Marx promised that if revolutionaries “burned it all down,” the ashes would give birth to a utopia founded on the principle of: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged imagined a world based on Marx’s ideal in which people vied with each other to prove […]
