St. Paul Mayoral Race Makes California Politics Seem Almost Normal

Saint Paul, Minnesota’s DFL Mayor Chris Coleman is running for reelection this year. Given the tone of last week’s mayoral forum, however, it looks as though Coleman’s record is perhaps the least salient thing about this race. Take a gander at this video from the event, courtesy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. If you’re anything like me, you’ll start this video weeping for the Republic and end it thinking “well, at least one of these things was interesting for once.”

Proving that DocJay is an actual doctor and not just playing one on the internet, his field diagnosis has been confirmed: A severe sprain of a ligament.  I would specify which one, but it sounds like mumbling when doctors explain such things.  No fracture at least.  Sprain sounds rather innocuous.  Can’t be too bad right? […]

Over the weekend, I posted a trial run for a new podcast called “Flyover Country.”  The podcast features me as a co-host, along with my long-time buddy, Terry Snapp.  I am an attorney, with no particular expertise in politics.  Terry is a geologist with even less expertise in politics. The tone of Ricochet over the […]

I lived in San Antonio for a few years before joining the Navy. It’s a lovely city with a rich history, a history worth preserving. A major part of that history is the missions. I fell in love with the missions there. Everyone thinks of the Alamo when they consider the San Antonio missions, but […]

The Dilemma of Finance Financing a purchase means that although you pay more in the end, you get to use the product or service now at an affordable cost. Financing winds up collecting more money than is actually needed, and the extra can be used for pure profit, or covering costs elsewhere. For example, the […]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LEOpYGh2Vs Someone recently asked me if I had heard the new Katy Perry song.  Happily, I can say I have never actually heard any Katy Perry songs.  However, even more happily, I can say I have heard the new Anna Calvi song, “Suddenly”, and pop icon Ms. Perry may be, when it comes to talent and […]

If you have been following recent developments on the sycophantic left, you’ll know that Rachel Maddow thinks she caught Rand Paul plagiarizing some lines from a wikipedia about the movie ‘Gattaca.’ Cuz that’s a scandal. Now we all know how Joe Biden was mired in a plagiarism scandal back in the stone age, but I’m […]

This article in Breitbart http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/10/29/McCain-We-ll-Try-to-Pass-Comprehensive-Immigration-Reform-Next-Year-After-GOP-Primaries was about the fifth or so report of Republicans sneaking around their party. McCain? Too obvious, but he was the one who spoke it out loud and I had a link. He says just us a bone, we will take it to conference, (unsaid: reinsert Gang of 8) and send […]

We’ve had a lot of talk about women lately. I’m not giving up on that subject permanently, but I think it’s possible to be an advocate both for women’s interests and for men’s. I think the modern world is hard on both, albeit in slightly different ways. And certainly, as the mother of three boys, […]

Preface:  This story has no moral, no hear-felt message.  It’s just funny.  I’ve told it a million times, but never have I related it through the written word.  I present it here for you as best I can remember it, and I have not changed any names to protect the innocent. The coolest job in […]

In medicine, TIA stands for transient ischemic attack. It is a harbinger of an impending stroke. In modern parlance, it stand for Total Information Awareness. In 2008, the BBC aired a mini series called “The Last Enemy,” which all too plausibly shows just how this works. “Chilling” is far too kinetic a term to describe […]

With Obama’s promise that “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health-care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health-care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” exposed as an outright lie, Obama’s kool aid drinkers have shifted to the spin […]

Did anyone here read “Free Market Healthcare Ramps Up As ObamaCare Self-Destructs” at Breitbart on 10/28/13?  Dr. Berry writes about Medibid as an example.  Have any of you tried MediBid, or know someone who has used it?  Sounds pretty good;I saved the site for future use.     Preview Open

Can We Call Democrats the “Stupid Party” Now?

We’re  hearing more stories every day about how people are shocked and dismayed that they’re losing their insurance coverage because of Obamacare. I know, surprise, surprise. Of course, it’s not a surprise to the people who have been warning Americans about the healthcare law since its inception.

How many times in the past several years have we heard conservatives say President Obama is lying about not losing your health insurance? How many times before the 2012 election did the Tea Party hold rallies warning people about the hidden dangers of Obamacare? But no one listened. Those conservatives are just too stupid to know what they’re talking about.

Who’s Got Obama’s Back?

Fox News has been having a field day playing clips of the President saying, “I didn’t know about …” and then insert your favorite screw-up: Benghazi, Fast and Furious, tapping reporters’ phones, the IRS targeting conservative croups, serious “glitches” in the health care website–the list goes on and on.

Most recently, we are informed that he didn’t know (though we all did) that the NSA was tapping phones of foreign leaders.
