A Tale of Two Moms

truthRemember Cindy Sheehan?

Poor Cindy Sheehan. Her son, Casey Sheehan, died in Iraq. I honor his service, and I mourn his loss. I cannot imagine what his family went, and is going, through. And Cindy Sheehan has every right to speak her mind.

Remember when Maureen Dowd, of the New York Times, said, in reference to Cindy Sheehan:

“the moral authority of parents who bury children killed in Iraq is absolute.”

Poor Patricia Smith.

Her son, Sean Smith, was killed in Benghazi. I honor his service, and I mourn his loss. I cannot imagine what his family went, and is going, through. And Patricia Smith has every right to speak her mind.

Remember how Maureen Dowd talked about Patricia Smith’s ‘absolute moral authority?’

No, I don’t remember that either.

Because it didn’t happen.

Instead, Patricia Smith is being relentlessly ‘fact-checked’ this morning. By PolitiFact. By The Washington Post. And probably many more.

The crux of Patricia Smith’s argument is that Hillary is a liar who told her, more-or-less over the body of her dead son, that the ‘video’ was responsible for the Benghazi attacks. Mrs Smith believes that Hillary knew, at the time, that the Benghazi attacks were organized terrorism. And there is strong evidence to indicate that she did know that. Including an inconveniently discovered email to her own daughter, sent on the night of the attack.

Just as there is strong evidence to indicate that, for days afterwards, Hillary, along with the rest of the Obama administration, was telling lots of people, and even foreign governments, that the video was responsible for the attack.

So, why is it so hard to believe that she would have told Patricia Smith the same thing?

Thus far, the best the Patricia Smith ‘fact checkers’ have been able to come up with is “there’s no conclusive evidence,” that Hillary mentioned the video to Smith, that other family members at the ceremony say that Clinton didn’t mention the video to them (so, absence of evidence is suddenly proof?), or that Smith’s story has changed over time (although her fundamental assertion has not).

I believe Patricia Smith.

Because the moral authority of parents who bury children killed in Benghazi is absolute.

Isn’t it?

Charles Woods and Jeremiah Woods are, respectively, the father and brother of Tyrone Woods.  Charles wrote in his notebook the following:

I gave Hillary a hug and shook her hand.  And she said, “We are going to have the filmmaker arrested who was responsible for the death of your son.”

Jeremiah has confirmed that during a subsequent phone call with Charles, his father mentioned this statement by Ms. Rodham.

Who is lying?  The grieving family members who have no discernible reason to lie?  Or the politician who has made a career of lying to the American people when it suits her purposes?  (The politician who, I might add, was a member of an administration that is on record as having publicly perpetrated this untruth while acknowledging privately that it was untrue.)

That was before Maureen Dowd learned that ze heteronormative gynocentric supremacist view of the world had any place in a civilized society.  I am sure that ze is deeply sorry for the microaggression.

Easy to explain the difference.  There is no one in the MSM who actually cared one bit about Cindy Sheehan as a person.  She was merely an effective vehicle to allow them to express their opinions of the Iraq War and, even more importantly, George W Bush.

When Barack Obama was elected, Cindy Sheehan went on to protest what she saw as Obama’s continuation of Bush’s failed policy.  The MSM stopped covering her, because she was no longer expressing their views.  When she showed up at Obama’s vacation home on Martha’s Vineyard in the summer of 2009, Charles Gibson of ABC News was asked about whether the story would be covered (Gibson gave glowing coverage of Sheehan’s anti-Bush protests).  His response – “enough already”.

Only the Left, which mocks morality, gets to have “absolute moral authority.” Everyone else can go scratch.

And only the Right needs “conclusive evidence.” Conjecture, innuendo, and outright lies (hands up, don’t shoot) suffice for our betters.

Whether she personally looked them in the face and lied about the video or not (and I also believe she did), there is NO doubt that she looked all Americans in the face and lied about it. Over and over. IIRC, she and Obama went to Pakistan and paid $80,000 to have a PSA made to also lie to that country about it.

The Media don’t want these facts to be true, so they will make them effectively not true by simply refusing to report them.

Pathetic. As if she hasn’t already been through enough. But then Maureen Dowd is a hack, and unless you are (politically) with her, your losses don’t count.

    Double like, Mr. Caward

Point beautifully made, She.  I was glad to see Patricia Smith given the opportunity to speak to her betrayal and anger.

The Obama administration made up the story of a video being responsible for the Benghazi attack because they were in the middle of a reelection campaign and, for that reason, didn’t want the American people to know it was an act of terrorism. End of story.

@She: I believe Patricia Smith, as well.  May God grant her son the salvation he earned and his family — especially his Mom — solace in their loss.

And may God righteously judge the Countess of Chappaqua when the time comes.  Justice for her will not come in this life, methinks.
