Imagine If Trump Had Said It

Powerline has a post up today about President Biden’s recent remarks, in which he proposed fixing our nation’s recent crime wave with gun control.  His statement was not entirely coherent, he wandered about a bit, and concluded with this:  “Those who say the blood of Patriots, you know, and all the stuff about how we’re gonna have to move against the government … If you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons.”  Now, I’m not suggesting that Mr. Biden intends to say whatever he just said.  He might have intended that as the direct challenge to dissidents that it sounds like, but was slurring his words and was clearly confused.  Hard to say, I suppose.  But.

Imagine that President Trump had surrounded the Capitol Building with razor wire and armed soldiers.  And then imagine that he said something like that… Imagine how CNN would respond to that. And the morning news shows, and the late-night talk shows, and basically everybody else; just imagine. They would be screaming from the rooftops that he was acting like a tyrant.  And they would have a point.

Excuse me while I surf over to CNN’s website, to read the vicious criticisms of Mr. Biden’s press conference; this should be good…

Swillwell forgot nukes will produce emp that will take out the power grids that feed California its electricity… Or that red states won’t send electricity to states that oppose them in a Civil War. in fact, red states wouldn’t have excess energy to sell them under the Green New commie Deal.

I agree with Biden.  I think I need a few F-15s and nukes.   It seems that equality would require it.

Do AC-130s fly nap-of-the-earth and sneak up behind you and tap you on the shoulder?  I think they’re aloof and elitist.

Nah. They just fly long lazy counterclockwise circles around somewhere where there are a lot of annoying people.

There were A-10s based at the local Air National Guard base for quite a number of years. Sometimes they’d fly low near our house. (We’re about 5 miles from the runway, which gets to be a nuisance when I want to fly my drone. Airmap has trouble deciding whether I’m inside or outside the radius. During the summer airshows, forget it.) I used to tell people at work that A-10s are the environmentalist’s fighter jet: safe, stable and efficient.

One thing that always made me queasy was the semi-annual (or whatever) return of the various Admirals who’d say we don’t need to build more A-10s and should retire the ones we have.  Balderdash.  What we need are fewer Admirals!

But actually, today the real fear is probably something drone-based that is programmed to specifically hunt you down by facial recognition (or DNA) and deliver a tiny but deadly charge to the back of your head…kamikaze-style. You won’t even know its coming…

Not the first time a Democrat has threatened this. Only this time the guy has the Football and is clearly demented.

This leftist line is both delusional and revealing. There is less than zero chance that anyone in the nuclear release chain would activate a nuclear weapon for release on American soil. There is almost no chance of manned aircraft dropping ordinance on Americans.

The truth is that small arms, hand held weapons, are more than enough to frustrate totalitarians, large and small. They decisively up the visibility and cost of oppression beyond political sustainability in this country.

We don’t need to fight the military.

We just need to hunt down the politicians .  They have to go home eventually.

And I believe that even the dumbest of Leftists realize this.  Thus, the campaign against the 2d Amendment.

Clifford, one thing that is particularly worrisome in any future confrontations (at least to me) is the qualified immunity that federal officers can fall back on to protect them (see link below).

As a Vietnam vet, I suppose that I followed the case of Oliva Vs. Nivar with more than the usual interest.  A 70 year-old being beaten by Federal Security Guards while trying to enter a VA facility.  In this case, it appeared that the Guards were above the Constitution.

When I hear talk of the expansion of the FBI and other Federal Goon Squads, I can’t help but think that Biden and Garland realize that they can’t trust local law enforcement to carry out their edicts.  So, they will send in their own troops; the ones who can indiscriminately shoot anyone they wish (See Ruby Ridge).
