In This Pandemic We Learned Kids Come Last

We’re nearing the end of the pandemic, with case rates and hospitalizations across the country dropping to lows we haven’t seen since the spring of 2020. We were blessed with a virus that has almost entirely spared young people; the greatest tragedies we saw were relegated to those who lived full lives and were in their 70s, 80s, and 90s. Any death is a tragedy, but we’re lucky that almost no healthy infants, children, or teenagers found themselves gravely ill or dead because of the COVID-19 virus.

Infuriatingly, despite the fact they were spared from the ravages of the virus, kids have faced the full brunt of the effects of our mitigation efforts. Millions of American schoolchildren haven’t seen inside a classroom in over a year, and millions more are the only citizens still expected to be wearing masks. As a result, you’re seeing parents walking around mask-free and their kids still hiding behind them:

But this latest transgression against kids is one for the record books, and one our society should never be allowed to forget. After a handful of blood clots were reported after the J&J shots were administered, the FDA announced a pause on that particular vaccine until emergency meetings could be held to judge its safety. Now, we’re seeing a health risk on a greater scale for kids: inflammation of the heart for teenage boys linked to the second dose of the vaccine. Here’s a recent heartbreaking story making the rounds on social media:

Doctors, those who have promoted the importance of vaccination from the start, are sounding the alarm that something is dangerously wrong. And what’s worse is the lack of urgency in the regulatory community about the situation; with the CDC scheduling a meeting to discuss it two weeks out, and then canceling said meeting when Congress declared Juneteenth a federal holiday.

We’ve shown kids this year that they don’t matter. We don’t care about their educations, about their mental health, about their right to breathe freely, and now, about their very lives and heart health. Instead, we’re barreling along with what appears to be an ill-advised and almost certainly unnecessary vaccination campaign for teenagers and children all the while lackadaisically meeting to consider the health complications and risks of said vaccines for hundreds, if not thousands, of American kids.  We’ve violated a sacred oath to protect and nurture our kids, and they should never let us forget it.

I’m waiting for the “experts” to admit that a year of lockdown for a child can do great psychological damage . . .

During this panic, the conduct of American physicians in general and of American pediatricians in particular, has been reprehensible, negligent and irresponsible.  We/they should have been screaming from March 2020 about the dangers of lockdowns and forced loneliness.  We/they should be screaming about the (predictable and predicted) autoimmune phenomena arising from these experimental gene therapies.

There is no reason for anyone under 30 years old to get one of these shots.

Yes, the adults have been selfish twits (stronger word disallowed by COC).  But this fits nicely with the “all about me” generations of adults running things.  The voiceless – the young, the disabled and the infirm – are victims of the tyranny of the selfish adults who drive the train.  I especially hate for the young.  Little risk but subject to the unsupported whims of the adults.  I can’t imagine what something like this does to a kid for life.

The only thing this virus proved is that every system we have is driven by politics and self interest at a level that even surprised my normal cynical outlook.

And the worst offenders are the selfish teachers, and their power-hungry unions.

I think I’ve said it before. There’s a sign in a school near my house that says, “HEROES WORK HERE.”

    NO! NO THEY DON’T!
