Black Lives Matter Plaza Update
In Washington D.C., 16th Street between K Street and the White House has been repaved and the “mural” of big yellow letters is gone. Savor the southward view because DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that it will be repainted within days (the DC government doing anything that quickly is spectacularly atypical). Moreover, the plaza setup will be made permanent, which I guess means no traffic on the sacred space which may be an inconvenience to the buildings in that two-block stretch who expect deliveries etc.
A movement based on an entirely false account of the deaths of Trayvon Martin and later of Michael Brown has turned into a profitable (a billion-dollar venture yet?) enterprise selling indulgences to woke corporate executives. Claiming the mantle of MLK when the real legacy is more that of PT Barnum is perversely very American. What a farce this is.

For those uninitiated in the area, this is a nearby rather upscale “soul food” restaurant that was farsighted enough to invoke both of these individuals in its name.
So, in D.C., all that’s required to create a “plaza” is to close a street to traffic? I’m sure this trend will grow among our Woke mayors throughout the country; it’s effortless. Effortless seems very popular among the Woke, whose only tool is their tongue.
Haven’t dined there since the pandemic started. It was not politicized at that time. Great menu.
My spouse created a “Black Dog Lives Matter” bumper sticker, but I wonder if it will cause our car to be keyed when we park in one of the more progressive parking lots in Northern California. (Like the car lot at Whole Paycheck Foods, for example.)
So, the capital street will honor a Marxist organization. Congress needs to take back control of DC before it sinks any lower.
But think of all the real estate commissions to be earned by the regular folks that sell the BLM kings and queens their So. Cal. mansions.
And maybe Algore has another cable TV network to unload…
