Deliberately Losing Georgia?
Democrats barely won Georgia in 2020. In sane times, a party that barely wins a state for the first time would do everything it can to shore up (fortify?) its margin of victory, hoping for bigger future wins.
Democrats are doing the exact opposite. They are doing everything they can to alienate the state by preventing members of their most loyal constituency from making money off the All Star game.
I guess that kind of craziness isn’t surprising in an era where mayors let their own cities burn, thinking it will enhance their resumes. Or a time when large companies openly alienate half of their customers. The Democrats’ attitude toward Georgia would seem to fit with the other craziness.
Maybe.
There might be a less crazy reason for the Democrats’ behavior: Maybe they believe they can’t win Georgia again. Why? Voter ID and other fraud prevention measures. If true, the Democrats are implicitly making one heck of an admission.
Take Florida for example, That state turned from purple to red after it cleaned up its vote-counting process. Coincidence?
The Democrats are very good at the game of politics. It’s hard to believe they would throw away a hard-won state just to burnish their woke credentials. Unless they think the state is already gone.
If Georgia is already lost to the Democrats, they might as well heap abuse on it as an example to intimidate other states considering similar reforms.

The thing is, it is a bunch of self-righteous individuals making these decisions. It isn’t a grand, coördinated conspiracy. They often make mistakes, and it is usually from hubris.
Some of it is getting encouragement from the White House.

Or they understand the RepubliCANT legislature posed, then caved to Krony Kapitalism Kemp. So the core cheat mechanisms are left untouched, as President Trump immediately pointed out. Most likely Stacey Abrams will be the next Georgia governor and statewide offices will go socialist, because all the smoke has no real fire under it.
Have they? I think it is far from a foregone conclusion.
It is a beautiful perspective to highlight. First, there is never any logic to any actions by the democrats. They are solely emotional creatures bouncing from one outrage to the next a the drop of a hat. And I do believe your primary point of their ignorance and uncaring attitude towards the citizens and state that they just ‘won’ the two run-off Senate seats is dispositive of the fact that they cheated in order to fix the win. Their use of mail-in ballots to cheat in GA in November, 2020 and January, 2021 are quite obvious and that is why the GA legislature passed a law to correct the flaws and try to make future elections more fair and accurate.

The Democrats don’t need to care how the people of Georgia feel about them. All they have to do is win the elections. As long as they can game the system to give them power they are happy.
Yep. The tactic is to focus all the energy of Wokeness against whoever is currently speaking out against Wokeness. The theory is similar to that of burning down a few villages is sufficient to control an entire country. The GOP can fight this by having many entities speak out/act at once. SD and AR backed down this week leaving GA and Desantis to fight alone, which is weak.
As for throwing GA, the Dem plan is to go full Leftist with open borders and new states and 100’s of billions to unions (DNC PACs) and national vote fraud laws. They want it all.
The less crazy reason for the Democrats’ behavior is that they know that they didn’t win Georgia. And they know they can’t win it in the future. And they know that everybody else knows that as well.
So it’s obvious to them that it doesn’t matter that much what their policies are, or how they campaign for office. That’s not important.
What is important is how the votes are counted. So they focus on that. They’re not stupid.
What people do not seem to understand that the game is over. The Democrats have won and know it. They are now roaming around the battlefield randomly shooting survivors for laughs.
Was going to make the same comment. You can interpret the way Democrats have behaved since the election as a go-for-broke strategy or as a “We’re not afraid of losing because we learned out to fix elections.” Their voting bill makes me think it’s the latter.
As a Georgia resident I think several things are going on at once:
I don’t think they think it’s lost. They bullied RINO Raffensberger into letting them cheat. They cheated more openly two months later in the Senate races. if (a) they can’t cheat and (b) they can’t deflect attention away from their actual record and actual positions with cries of “racism” then they lose. They are simply following the game plan.
I don’t buy this whole Democrats did not want MLB to move BS. It takes a lot of effort and costs a lot of money to do what they did. It hurt MLB, arrangements and understanding. It was not done casually. Somebody with money, power, force made that happen.
I have no faith in the GA Republican Party. They are pretty inept, in general and for what it is worth a bunch of the sitting and recently retired Republican office holders in the state were Democrats before they were Republicans – their real loyalty is/was to the power they gained by holding office. Or so I am told…

Yet Trump didn’t tell them to not vote, right? Didn’t he travel to Georgia and campaign for the runoff? From my vantage point thousands of miles away, it appeared that Raffensberger didn’t do a lot to convince voters that the shenanigans in November were going to be fixed in January to ensure a fair election.
No, and Raffensperger let the press get away with their lie about Trump’s phone call for, what? two months? before we learned the truth? Raffensperger knew immediately that the WaPo’s report was a lie. Why didn’t he defend the President?

I don’t really have faith in Kemp, either. He’s making noise now because he wants to make the base happy, but where was he when he was needed? Hiding with Raffensperger?

Even if he had been on the ballot, that doesn’t “make someone stay home.” Indeed, we’ve been told repeatedly about all the voters who turned out to vote for Republicans in other positions, just not Trump.
