Children’s Books with No Politics

Friday morning, I saw that Beverly Cleary had died at age 104. For those of us of a certain age, we remember fondly the adventures of Ramona Quimby and Henry Huggins. And that got me thinking about my aunt Molly Cone, who wrote three children’s books about a dog named Mishmash and his human companions.

I checked, and they are all still in print! So, if you go over to the Barnes and Noble website (click here), you can get them for your kids. No politics, just fun. And please don’t buy them from Amazon, but from Barnes and Noble, which needs all the help they can get.

Beverly Cleary was my favorite children’s book author. In fact, my daughters just sent me a text message about her death.

She was a breath of fresh air for children. Her characters were all people that an entire family could relate to and enjoy.

I cannot say enough good about her or adequately express my appreciation for her books.

Leftists have told me that there is no such thing as a book with no politics: If we think a book is not political then we have failed to notice because the book assumes and accepts the default political system which leftists think is so oppressive. This justifies attacking any book on political grounds, as all the social norms that make civilization possible become barriers to achieving the revolutionary change that leftists desire.

Same here, my daughters loved them.  And her doll, Chevrolet…
