Do You Think They Mean ‘Threats?’
Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal today about the Biden administration’s executive orders and how they may not stand up in court. It includes this passage (emphasis mine):
People advising the Biden team have discussed ways to respond. These include leaning more on nonregulatory strategies, such as subsidizing renewable energy, and working with businesses to encourage voluntary behavioral change.
I’ve never seen that, at least in Chicago, mean anything other than “Nice little business you got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it.” Or “You can do that, but good luck getting your permit renewed in a year.”
Of course, from what I read in the article, there was nothing to suggest the Biden Administration might actually work with Congress to pass laws, but then again, that’s not really what Congress seems to do anymore.

That is so passé …
It’s like those letters from Congressmen to various cable and satellite providers asking why they are carrying Fox News, OAN, etc.
Exactly. Biden’s executive orders, a compliant judiciary to rubber stamp them, and a totally corrupt DOJ to implement them.
The function of Congress is to hold endless, meaningless hearings so they can pontificate for the benefit of the mindless twits who keep voting for them year after year.
Ah, but that is exactly what Congress does, to the extent that the lawmaking process, including lengthy hearings back and forth, generates personal wealth and sustains political power for individual members of Congress, especially men like McConnell and women like Murkowski. I’m thinking that maybe the second word of the last sentence is a typo. Then again, maybe not🤔🤔🤔
No, it wasn’t a freudian slip; just a bad case of fat fingers. Thanks!
Generally, governments can encourage good behavior and help private groups coordinate to achieve some desired outcome. That isn’t that new. It remains to be seen how far the Biden admin will take it. It will also be interesting to see how far Congress lets Biden go on these EOs. Dem Congress promised a lot of very liberal things and on the campaign trail Biden has gone back and forth on being a moderate or being a liberal and he has is own constituency to think about.
That was so incredibly inappropriate. I know a lot of people are tired of Trump and use that as an excuse to let Dems get away with anything, but I really wish someone on the on the institutional left would speak out against that type of behavior. Unfortunately it seems to be the exact opposite: CNN and MSNBC really want these people off the air.
