Dozens of House Democrats Want Biden To Give Up Authority on Nukes
Odd that Democrats are seeking to limit the power of their own president. I wonder why they would do that?
Do they have concerns about President Biden’s ability to do his job, for some reason? I haven’t seen anything on CNN or in The New York Times that might suggest that he is compromised in any way. The Democrat Congressprimates didn’t offer any specific concerns about President Biden. Why are they trying to limit his powers as Commander in Chief?
How odd…

So an ICBM has a launch to target window of 35 minutes or less. Yes, let’s add a layer of bureaucracy to our response time. What’s the worst that can happen?
Xi is giggling.
I suggest we set up a blue-ribbon panel to study the feasibility of creating a subcommittee on nuclear affairs that would report directly to the blue-ribbon panel, relevant NGOs, and the Oversight Committee on whether or not the creation of a task-force to limit the actions of the executive can be implemented to ensure a more equitable, inclusive, and synergistic approach to our nation’s defense.
I saw this last night and it scared the Bejezuz out of me. It means they know that Xiden is impaired to such an extent that he cannot be trusted with sole possession of The Button. So while the argument these Dems put forward makes reference to what they see as the disconcerting behaviors of past Presidents, it is noteworthy that they never made this proposal during the tenure of those past Presidents. But they feel it’s needed now … under this President. Scary indeed.
As long as you give the UN veto power, I’m on board.
Not to mention the disparate impact on POC.
Yes, it seems odd they’d do this to one of their own.
I oppose this, partly due to how much it would compromise national defense under a theoretical future Republican President, but mostly because I find the prospect of nuclear annihilation more attractive with every passing day.
I’m not sure this is directed at Biden as much as it is directed at Trump. They are still afraid of him, from what I can see on the Democrats’ news media. Fascinating since Trump is the more rational and lucid of the two. But in their campaign of exaggerations and outright lies about Donald Trump, they scared themselves silly.
Where is the open letter signed by former military experts telling is that Biden is not capable to be Commander in Chief? Are all the ex-generals Leftists/Corporatists?
AIAC, this was pure gold, thanks. Many try, few succeed at this kind of parody!
Note: You might want to reach out and circle back to your Congressperson on this idea.
It’s harder to append good parody to good parody than it is to write good parody in the first place. But you have succeeded.
My reading of the Constitution has the President as the Commander in Chief. Period.
Exactly.
Which is one reason to select that President carefully, based on his competence, rather than based on someone else’s mean Tweets…
I was really, really okay with the mean Tweets.
Sir Humphry would have added “interdepartmental” to that I think
The Constitution is so passe now.
More seriously, I absolutely oppose this.
Oh, I agree. The Commander in Chief needs to be able to act when he deems necessary.
Leading the military with majority vote of some committee is bonkers. You need a leader. Somebody has to be in charge. And that somebody has to take responsibility.
It might be a serious risk if Xiden could remember where the button is.
At first blush it would seem like Xi (who apparently has influence over members of congress) wants to preempt any retaliatory strike from the US.
Just to clarify the issue, the United States already has a two-man rule governing a nuclear launch:
That effectively slows things down a little bit. And I’m sure that’s a good thing.
Because Biden isn’t really the President. He has Nancy’s hand stuck up through his behind manipulating him at every turn. They can’t do a ventriloquist act, because he occasionally escapes and makes a fool of himself in front of the cameras. He can even drop the N word.
Nancy’s hand? I don’t think it’s Nancy. I think Nancy herself has lost control. Or at least her mind. She’s even more bughouse insane than she usually is. Every time she opens her mouth it seems like it’s AOC’s words that come out.
So a double act.
Good morning, Sunday morning.
Yup. This move was a bit ironic since I seem to recall that when he was the VP under Obama he made a game out of running away from the carrier of the football (In the chain of command, the Vice President has his/her own football).
As the story went, when he was in a cavalcade, he would tell his driver to take side streets and speed up; then he would laugh uproariously when the car, carrying the football, would try to keep up with him. Sort of gives you a good idea of what kind of President he is.
This adds to the likelihood that the real reason for the fences and troops in DC is to prevent Joe from wandering off.
What if Pelosi is having her hair done and can’t be reached? Seriously, I always thought there was a chain of consult and command and more than one code – to offset any error – at least that is the way they show it in the movies….there seems to be a lot of serious changes taking place very quickly – most noticeably in the military – ‘there is something going on’.
Me too – I miss them…..
