Bet You Feel Safer Now, Yeah?

Inclusion study: I guess that’s a military thing now. But after seeing this from our Air Force brethren (I know, saying that is somehow mysogonist misoginyst misogynist), I kind of wanted to toss my cookies. Do you feel safer? You know, like your Air Force is ready to dominate the skies over any adversary stupid enough to pose a threat to these United States? Yeah, me neither.

The top kick of a four-star command just said “we have love for all of you.”

Senior NCOs down through the ages must just feel their ghostly chests (and breasts, I guess, not to be mysogonist misoginyst misogynist) swelling with pride.

Don’t sweat it, Sergeants Major, we’ve got NCOs out on the line that’ll keep this military rolling. Somehow.

What are the chances of a frag incident for this puke?

That type of unit can only shoot rubber bands.

In the Marines, back after the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings, or somewhere around then, I forget when, they established a requirement that every military unit of battalion/squadron size have a person assigned to be the person you had to report to if you were sexually assaulted or bothered.  It appears to have the name changed recently and I can’t remember the original name of the position.

As is the nature of such jobs, it was handed to the lowest person in the pecking order they could get away with.  As such, it was often assigned to the biggest pervert in the unit.

I always thought it was odd that they thought it was more important to report to some odd ball rather than the regular method of calling the MP’s, or requesting mast to speak to the General.  Somehow the powers that be forced this program on us that actually ended up diluting the response that should be taken.    Bureaucrats are typically idiots.

Meanwhile, as the new inclusive neutering continues, our adversaries were busy too, both here and abroad.  Behind the scenes during Trump’s leadership for the last several years, Obama’s old cronies, who are now magically back in place, have been planning a return to business as usual – Feel Safer now than under Trump? Not so much…..

As sad as this makes me, it’s been coming for decades.  The USAF was politically correct before we even used that term.  When I enlisted in the late 70’s the Social Actions office was already a thing, with long inbriefs to accompany PCS moves.  Think of Social Actions as the precursor to mandatory racial awareness training.  What is disturbing is that this is where DoD is going; these tools are the leading edge of the wave.  I’d love to think that the Army and Marine Corps can resist, but don’t count on it.  As senior officers are replaced with those who drink the kool aid it will become irreversible.

Those two are not serious people.   If I were China’s Air Force head, I would be smiling.  With leadership like that which is on display presently, our military is going to be killed in large numbers in the next near peer conflict.  We will lose and be humiliated.  I am seriously worried, because Biden/Harris is signaling weakness (wokeness) on a major scale to the rest of the world.

The Woke among us are destroying the credibility of the last remaining respected institution: the US Military.  Soon there will be nothing that is respected and revered.  What do they seriously think will happen then?  I don’t think they think.  They are fish swimming in a woke pond, and don’t realize they’re wet.  Just that they are climbing the greasy pole to…nowhere.

I’ve never before felt such contempt for serving senior US military officers.

Not even. And it’s particularly annoying since their rifle cases take up so much cargo space when they should have those rifles on their persons.

1983 – I was a 2LT and we were getting ready for a short deployment. Engineering units had their own weapons (old M16’s and S/W model 15 revolvers).  The rifles were kept in racks that held 10 (IIRC) rifles.  Whenever we had weapons out someone had to be the custodian with a loaded rifle or pistol.  At the time rifles were kept with a 30 round magazine and empty chamber.  I told the E5 who was custodian to take a chow break and I’d stay back.  After I received his rifle I dropped the magazine and checked the chamber.  The E5 had been a security policeman before and was shocked.  I told him I wasn’t taking loaded weapon from anyone and assuming  the chamber was empty without checking.  He said SOP in the security forces was to never, ever do that.  And those were the people who carried weapons every day.  In previous years (but not then) the SOP was to load 5 rounds in the revolvers to leave and empty under the hammer as if they were 1865 Colts.

Who on earth presumes there’s not a round in the chamber without checking?  That’s insane.  Isn’t it worth a look?  They actually tell guys not to look?  Why?

That was not my experience (USAF 1983 – 2014) when deployed. Although, I would share a view that proficiency (aside from some AFSCs) was not what it should be for many Airmen required to carry weapons when in the AOR.

OK – so it would appear that “experiences vary” such that a few observations do not prove a rule. There were of course rules regarding weapons transport on USAF aircraft and as there were rules regarding the arming and carrying of firearms. These rules were always defined by conditions and context.

Some of us in deuce driving, foxhole digging units carried. I was expert marksman in handgun and M16. By the nature of its business, air power, most didn’t need to be armed. AF does have special ops.

A female friend has an adult son who is really into firearms. (I understand he is a first-class gunsmith.) She talked him into showing me his gun collection. He brought down two rifles he owned and set them down on the table (business end pointed away from everyone). Then he handed me one.  (Again, muzzle pointed to the ceiling, and not at anyone.)

It had been years since I handled an AR-15 (actually its military cousin, the M-16). As I took the rifle from him I instinctively opened the chamber to check to see it was empty.

After I did this, I told him I hoped he didn’t think I thought he was careless, it was just habit.

He smiled and said, “and a damn good habit, too.” I think I scored some points with him.

All the Marines and soldier and sailors on the same planes were carrying.  This was very common.  I’m referring to leaving the US and entering the war zone.  Not travel within the war zone.
