Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right

“Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right
Here I am
Stuck in the middle with you.”
Stealers Wheel

The impeachment trial of former President Trump is becoming a one-act circus. Your ticket to the circus features a clown car, you know the act where a large group of clowns exit the tiny car that drives around the center ring, and then run around the center ring engaging in some slapstick comedy.

Some Senators wanted to call witnesses, they reached a deal this morning to exclude witnesses. This move would have added another charge, to incitement to riot. The second charge would be President Trump’s refusal to provide aid to the Capitol during the riot, so to keep it simple, aiding the rioters. A trial that is now allowing a second charge that was not presented in the House.

Before a criminal act ends up in court the investigation comes first. The police charge someone with a crime. The prosecutor will determine which witnesses have been vetted and will testify. There is a court hearing that hears the “guilty” or “not guilty” plea from the defendant, then an evidentiary hearing on what evidence will be allowed in testimony, and what will not be allowed.

There has been no investigation into the failure of protecting the Capitol building on January 6. There have been individuals who have been charged with crimes for acts that were committed during the riot. Some of the defense attorneys of those charged say their clients believed they were following orders from President Trump. That’s not really a defense to crimes. I call that the neighbor’s black Lab, Son of Sam defense.

There should be an investigation into the apparent lack of a plan to protect the Capitol. There are claims that warnings were ignored, and requests were made for reinforcements that were denied, not denied by the White House, denied by decision-makers in the House.

Nancy Pelosi should also be investigated. She asked for crewed machine gun troops to defend the Capitol. An interesting request that, asking for the military to use an indiscriminate weapon to gun down citizens of the United States.

The acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security during the capitol incursion, Ken Cuccinelli, made an alarming revelation during an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on her show, “The Story” on Jan. 20.

In the video below, MacCallum pointed out that the presence of 25,000 National Guard troops deployed to Washington, D.C. ahead of the inauguration was several times the troop levels currently serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Agreeing with MacCallum, Cuccinelli replied that 25,000 troops was the equivalent of an entire division. He then disclosed that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had requested the “last up of the final troops” and had asked for crew-manned machine guns.

“A division. You have a division,” he told his host. “The last up of thousands of these troops was requested by the speaker through the Capitol Police. She even wanted crew-manned machine guns in Washington. That was rejected because there’s simply no use for that in a security arrangement for a civilian undertaking. Just — so some of this has gone beyond any legitimate security need.”

Clown shows are fine for entertainment, not so good for governing a country.

I wish they would be done with it.  Impeach Trump and be done with it.  Kill Trump and take his stuff, whatever they decide.  I am done with it.  They are going to do what they want anyway and all my whine about it can do is get me cancelled

Just machine guns? Why not mortars? Because nothing says you care quite like the crump of high explosives.

Imagine her dreams of a Democrat military, machine gunning down thousands and thousands of Trump voters.  It would be the climax of the Biden election, her reign and her dreams.  I am surprised the military declined to help her achieve her desires.

I was watching the closing arguments and the senate vote. The whole thing is a political farce. It’s time we started impeaching Democrats.

For what?  No activity is criminal if a Democrat does it

I’d like to see a full-scale 9-11 Commission.  Nancy could have done more to prevent this.

Similar to the 9-11.  How did this happen?  Why did this happen?  What changes do we need to make so this never happens again?

I would guess that should be “decision-makers in the Capitol” and that would include Mitch. He’s one of the clowns too.

Regardless of Trump and the Fauxpeachment, the fact that this investigation has been skirted says much about whose hands are dirty.

Imagine that fenced part of DC being razed, and the reaction was, “Good, be done with that $hitehole.”

Might create some unity at least.

So the Democrats snatch humiliation from the jaws of defeat! It’s not often I enjoy watching CNN

Humiliation?  In 1868, not a single Democrat Senator voted for the conviction of Andrew Johnson.  In 1999, not a single Democrat Senator voted for the conviction of Bill Clinton.  In 2020, for the first time a member of the President’s party voted for the conviction of Trump.  In 2021, seven Republican Senators voted for the conviction of the President of his party.

How many will still be GOPe senators after the next election cycle? None, I hope, but then I also wanted Trump re-elected.

All  of last week we heard about Donald Trump’s “useless lawyers”, then the so-called geniuses on the other side pull a ridiculous stunt, realising they’re staring into a precipice, and run for the hills. That was humiliating.

Limbaugh said it best when he said that the GOPe and the NTs didn’t see the current incarnation of Demo-rats as a serious threat to their game, the game of lying to their supporters about what they were going to do if put in office. The Orange One — and bless him for doing it — blew up that farce. He was perceived as the bigger threat by scum such as the RINOs who voted to convict him.

The national figures of the GOPe are dead in the water, useless as always. Any hope lies with those Trump brought in in “down-ticket” races.
